Love the feel of cold, a slight breeze and a slight whiff of snow scent in the air before a big one. 22/4 in Poughkeepsie.- 1,011 replies

Does anyone have concerns over the eventual strength of the surface low tomorrow ? Read a statement from NWS Boston that says pressure may only go as low as late 990s to early 1000s mb and that the models may have overestimated potency of cyclogenesis.

I am really rooting for all of us get at least 10 inches and I will feel for anyone here near the coast who might get disappointed. Winter is just starting, remember no matter what the final outcome. Long way to go for several more snowstorms hopefully.

Don't know. Those mid level warm noses can really over achieve and fire north with a close enough slp. Seen it happen before with a similar track.

Can't believe we actually have a sleet, mix risk that could cut totals when just yesterday, worried about fringe.
-
Hard to believe for my area in Poughkeepsie we go from fear of fringe to now fear of taint, sleet in such short order.

Do we start paying more attention to short term high res models at 18Z more than the globals?

12-18 looks about right for our interior areas with pops at 24 over the Cats or where banding sets up. This feels like March 2017.

Could be too amped and you all still have time for SE ticks. GFS still shows NYC jacking.

I still think NYC and surrounding except E LI will get at least a foot. The cold high means business. Keeping fingers crossed that everyone on this forum gets at least 10 inches. God knows we are due after last year, but I take nothing for granted. Getting high snow like this a week before Christmas is very infrequent. I am going to savor this!

Here 10 miles north of 84 and I am always nervous with every coastal winter storm. Several model runs to go. I still predict 8-12 for my area. You folks down in the city can enjoy 12-18 imo.

I am predicting 8-12 for our area in Poughkeepsie. I am well aware of bust potential.
