  1. Heard my first crickets last night. They may have been out there for awhile, but it's the first night I've slept with open windows this week. Probably have another month to go before the katydids show up.
  2. In other words, if this were January, they got more than 6 feet of snow while I got flurries. But seriously, I don't wish 6+ inches of rain on anyone in that brief amount of time. I'll be paying off the damage from Isaias for a few more years. 72F/DP 71F
  3. Thunder all around me, but nothing more than a sprinkle here. Temp down to 79F!
  4. 87F under cloudy skies. Don't want to think about what the temp would be with full sun. Looks like slow movers. Wonder if we'll see any flash flood advisories/warnings today?
  5. Been sitting at 85F with a DP of 77F. Looks like storms are starting to pop over Chester County.
  6. Let's hope for those storms, already approaching 80F at 8:30 am...79F/DP 75F. Looks like I only got down to 74F overnight.
  7. ^ Haha... yeah, glad I'm an old man now. Fifteen-year-old me would have been shooting bottle rockets at them. We know how that would have ended.
  8. Clouds have moved in, knocking me down from 92F to 89F
  9. Until recently, didn't our species die of old age around 30? I usually leave my AC at 78F. The thermostat is in the hallway, away for any vent. So although it reads 78F, it's closer to 74F around the house. Plus, I live in a ranch, so not having a second floor bedroom makes sleeping more comfortable. And ceiling fans are a must! 77F/DP 71F
  10. Turns out my neighbor is a bit of a bee expert. Who knew? Anyway, he's says they're relatively harmless at the moment. They've settled about 15 feet up in a pine, all huddled around the queen. He says they'll be there of a day or two while the scouts go out and look for a spot to establish a new hive. He said they'll probably swam again around dawn. Last year I had bold-face hornets build a hive on a bird feeder. They say they are pretty aggressive, but the feeder was out of the way, so I let them be. It was pretty cool watching the hive grow in size all summer long. It was probably about the size of two footballs by September.
  11. Okay, this is a new one...I’m trapped in my house by a swarm of bees out front. Looks like they’re settling into a pine tree of mine.
  12. No photo, but a P-51 Mustang just flew over. Might be a good day to keep an eye on the sky. I do miss the Willow Grove air shows since the base closed. Used to see all sorts of aircraft flying overhead in those days.
  13. Saw my first lightning bugs last night. 72F/DP 64F
  14. Apparently the storm by me has been warned. Nothing severe here, just occasional heavy rain and rolling thunder.
  15. Getting fringed by a cell passing by to my north, can hear thunder in the distance. Temp dropped from 79F to 70F with the outflow.
  16. Finished with .75". That should keep the lawn green for another week or so. 68F/DP 67F
  17. .70” so far. Round #2 moving up from the Balt/DC area.
  18. The sun is starting to break through, 79F/DP 68F. Soup's on!
  19. Just a car topper here, that June sun angle is a #$%@!
  20. I heard it too, wasn’t expecting that.
  21. Truth! As a kid, I remember looking forward to Memorial Day because that's the weekend our swim club would open. More often than not, the weekend was dark, dank and dreary, but I still begged to go swimming...lol! 48F
  22. Was it 2013 or 2014 when Christmas was warmer than July 4?? Must have had some good winds overnight, lots of leaf debris and small branches all over the neighborhood. 48F
  23. It's the last full month of adding daylight. Only 117 days until fall! 66F/DP 52F
