  1. No one poo pooed on any model. But for the NYC area nothing has really changed. Maybe they will squeeze out an inch or two before the change over.
  2. Came in like a wall in Staten Island
  3. The fact that a lot of the short range models are holding onto the snow a few hours long is definitely catching my attention now. Not sure what it will mean in the long run but the evening commute for many people will be a mess. IMO a lot messier than they thought when they left this morning. I also have not seen much in terms of salt spreaders out but I have not left Brooklyn let today. Should be an interesting afternoon and evening for sure.
  4. And the HRRR has 8 inches for NYC. Those maps are always overdone lol
  5. Forget the models at this point expect to see where zero hour matches up to current conditions. Nowcasting time.
  6. Bingo. It will be a slushy mess that gets washed away. I hope I'm wrong but I have a feeling the rain will changeover quickly.
  7. On weather bell when you zoom into NYC, the snow moves in by 2pm. By 4pm the sleet and rain moves in and temperatures are 32/33 the entire time although you can't take any model verbatim. I agree it can certainly over perform if the storm moves in earlier but there's more of a probability of getting less than more. Either way it will be nice to see our first winter storm. Hopefully it's a sign of whats to come this season.
  8. Why are people bickering so much? This isn't a big snowstorm for NYC no matter how much people wish it would be. We have to be realistic here.
  9. Might be too low in the higher elevations, however this is much more probable than some of those crazy snow map outputs.
  10. Yeah, a lot more NWS offices are using twitter more and more. If you download the app on your device it is very easy to get push notifications during a storm.
  11. I saw it on their Twitter account.
  12. Based off the latest NAM, NYC sees less snow than it did on previous runs. I agree with the posters above, a few flakes flying before the changeover to rain.
  13. If you click through their briefing you will find it. Odd they have not updated their winter page though.
  14. Definitely possible. But we all know how hard it is to accumulate snow in central park in November.
  15. NYC sees 2 or 3 hours of snow at most before the rain takes over. As Eric said above, 850s are really warm across most of PA too. Freezing Rain will be an issue as 2m temps are 28 to 30 degrees
  16. Ironically I have to drive through Pennsylvania late Thursday night to a storm chasing convention in Indiana. Should be an interesting ride.
  17. Not surprising. Those maps are always overdone.
