  1. Was driving through the flash flood warning on my way back to the city from PA. First time i ever had to pull over because wipers couldn't keep up.
  2. I can't wait for the heat to be gone. SPC has western PA under a slight risk tomorrow and soundings support a chance of supercells with a possible tornado. It's difficult to chase in that area because of the mountains but I might give it a shot. One or two storms on the 3k Nam make it to NYC tomorrow night but I'm sure they will die like they usually do.
  3. Hrrr did a complete turn around from even a few hours ago. Definitely not showing a washout today.
  4. Where exactly are you talking about? Because storms are firing up.
  5. I'm getting more wind in Brooklyn now than we did with the first line
  6. I am getting great shots on the back end and staying pretty dry from southwest Brooklyn.
  7. Didn't get much in the way of cloud to ground lightning photos. 99 percent was cloud to cloud. Maybe that baby cell on the backend will give me something to take home.
  8. Yep. Coinsides with the SPC slight risk box north of us. The Catskill into North West CT look to cash in on some severe weather later today. HRRR does have some storms coming through the city around 8 through 1 am but they are nothing great. Soundings do support severe weather just not as much as they showed yesterday.
  9. It backed off from previous run for the immediate NYC metro but we have to wait until to see what happens in the morning first.
  10. Tomorrow night looks good for another round of Crazy thunderstorms in NYC around 8 to 11pm. Soundings suggest a tornado is possible. If so, that would be the second in one month.
  11. I am currently out west in Arizona chasing monsoons. It is pretty amazing.
  12. Lightning is not a criteria of severe thunderstorms. Atleast 1 inch hail, winds 58mph or a tornado is. Calm your horses.
  13. I don't think yesterdays storms met the criteria for a severe thunderstorm warning from the City east.
  14. I shot this near meadow lake right around the time the two people were struck.
  15. A cropped image from a longer timelapse I shot tonight at Carnarsie Pier. That's the belt parkway at the base of the lightning strike.
  16. Because people call a bust when they didn't get a monsoon in their backyard.
  17. They said NWS but didn't specify. Very friendly people. A lot of people don't take kindly to people photographing or shooting video in their neighborhood after a storm. They saw me with my tripod setup near the church and approached me to say hello.
  18. I was talking to a few people last night in the area who said their son is big Into weather. Likely your parents
