  1. I agree with that 100%. That has been my issue with it since that small tornado hit college point, Queens over the summer. The damage path was maybe 10 blocks. Everyone in the 5 boroughs got the Tornado warning alert and freaked out.
  2. That sounds like an employer problem and a problem for people who think it's smart to get an an alert like that and proceed to get into their car and drive. The NWS job is to warn people. They don't tell people to leave work early.
  3. Tell that to the people involved in a deadly pileup in Pennsylvania earlier.
  4. I'm not sure how to post a single video clip on here so I'll wait until tomorrow when I put it on youtube but I was about to say the same for where I was today. Such an amazing storm.
  5. Just hit 6 inches in Monticello. SPC has a meso discussion out for a very large area of Eastern PA and into Upstate NY
  6. Mt Holly bumped up totals in their latest briefing https://www.facebook.com/256261011073971/posts/2325760850790633
  7. 1/4 inch of snow on the ground in Ellenville, New York. 70 miles north of NYC
  8. My sunrise was pretty dull up in Newburg but there's certainly a lot of ice.
  9. Why do people bother with the GFS at this range? We need to look at the meso models.
  10. From the National Weather Service in Upton, NY: "...A line of heavy rain with possible thunderstorms will move in this afternoon between 12PM and 3PM. Widespread wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph are possible with this line. This could bring down tree limbs, trees, and power lines."
  11. Why wouldn't you count November? Also, tomorrows storm will be very interesting even if it is rain and not snow.
  12. Making a dedicated thread more than 3 days before is always a ginx
  13. Have no idea how I missed that. Have to learn to have coffee before Interneting. That's really a shame. I'd imagine them getting rid of wunderground website over the years as well too which would suck. They already got rid of the blog section which I always enjoyed reading. I still think AccuWeather is a worse company though
  14. Seriously. A lot of Connecticut got really messed up by the ice.
  15. I'm up by Albany and it's mixing with sleet. I'm heading to Worcester, MA where 0.25 to 0.50 ice is expected
  16. Measured 3 inches of snow off exit 9 on i87 between Albany and Saratoga Springs at midnight. At 3am we were at 7.25 inch.
  17. I'll be live streaming the next 24 hours. Right now in Albany but will head back and forth between here and Poughkeepsie as they start to mix. Currently 12 degrees up here.
  18. I am not going to bicker but take a line from Binghamton thru the Catskills / Albany and thru new New Hampshire for some very high totals.
