  1. Fun site for old NWS discos. Can someone tell me more about the ETA model? Seems like it was factored in a lot back in the day. https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/wx/afos/p.php?pil=AFDBOX&e=200501210850
  2. Exactly after the last few a "normal" winter would be welcome with open arms. Either way just another stab in the dark.
  3. FWIW noticed Weatherbell punted winter. Has above average temps and below normal snow. They have had a pretty poor performance record for the past few seasons so it is what it is. Who knows how it will play out
  4. Looks like a few cells really blew up to the east of here! I'm not far from the water and have been seeing a decent light show for the past 15 minutes or so...
  5. Just looking to get an idea of what a typical 500 pattern might look like for a SNE cane if there is such a thing? I'm catching on what to look for in the winter blocking, trough position etc...I'm curious how does this translate in to a tropical sense at 500 look like for some of the past storms that have effected SNE? Thanks!
  6. One thing I have taken from these past few winters is that enjoy the biggies when the come along! We have been very lucky here locally over the past several years. Enjoy every moment leading up to, during and after the big ones. Its all about making memories!
  7. Put me down for that! Even if it’s a Rainer here! Months and months of dull weather ahead! Of course I’m going to Alaska for 2 weeks in August so pencil in a tropical system for SNE at that point LOL
  8. I’m getting married that Sunday! I fully expect days and days of onshore flow that weekend with sheet drizzle
  9. To my untrained eye looked like the GEFS got a little better, just toggling vs 6Z who knows . Might just be putting lipstick on a pig.
  10. All you can ask for is chances maybe something breaks in our favor.
  11. 15 years ago the Blizzard of 2005 best birthday gift I ever got! Really what got me hooked into the weather! URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Taunton MA 846 AM EST Sun Jan 23 2005 The blizzard of 2005 is now in progress across parts of coastal Southern New England, as those in Massachusetts and Rhode Island endure a storm comparable to the blizzard of 78. This storm is now blasting Eastern Massachusetts, northeast Connecticut and Rhode Island in all its fury with whiteout conditions, temperatures plummeting into the single numbers and teens, northeast to north winds of 50 to 70 mph creating drifts to at least 6 feet, in exposed areas. Travel is not recommended until sometime late today or tomorrow, to give crews which in some cases May have stopped clearing roads for safety reasons, an opportunity to clear roads later today when the storm starts moving away. The storm at 8 AM was still located about 50 miles east southeast of Nantucket and will end up dumping about 16 to 24 inches of snow in the Connecticut River Valley, 20 to 30 inches from Manchester and Nashua New Hampshire through Worcester and Rhode Island. The jackpot will be Eastern Massachusetts where 28 to 38 inch amounts will be common. Nantucket Will end up with less snow because of its warmer conditions and closer proximity to the storm center but blizzard conditions will arrive there this morning. This is likely to be a record setting snowstorm in Boston when comparing against data, dating back to 1892. For Providence this should be a top 3 snow event. The 7 AM reports of 17.8 inches at providences TF Green airport and 19.8 inches at Bostons Logan airport makes this the 6th worst snowstorm in Southeastern New England Interstate 95 history dating back to at least 1905, and heading for at least top 3 ranking by days end. Blizzard or near blizzard conditions will occur along the coast and high terrain this morning and then gradually recede to only the immediate coast during the afternoon. This is a potentially life threatening situation for those who venture out during the height of the storm this morning. Again, travel is not recommended until late today. If you leave the safety of being indoors, you are putting your life at risk.
  12. If I had half of the snow or hurricane hits the CMC has shown over the years I would still be shoveling and rebuilding. Anyway always fun to look at where do I sign?
  13. Thanks Scott! I guess get the cold and roll the dice.
  14. To my untrained eye seems like that ridge really is stubborn and wants to hover around the Aleutian Islands have to get that East correct?
  15. Been solid down this way IMO at least compared to recent Decembers.
  16. Should be fun watching it play out from here!
