  1. Even if we get wintry precip. this weekend, it would all melt when temps warm right back up Monday and Tuesday next week. The weather the past several years has been a combination of Seattle and Denver winters.
  2. Yeah, looking at the GEFS maps you posted above, it looks like a SLIGHT relaxation, and then the warmth starts working its way up through the Ohio Valley.
  3. Ugly. Awful. Disgusting! The positive: We melted our best snowpack back in November...so we don't have to watch it melt again. lol Bermuda High
  4. So...many....cutters. I am going to go stand with the Mid-Atlantic crew on the edge of their cliff...
  5. Sleet is AWFUL to drive in, but wow, does it take a LONG time to melt! In the Valentine's day storm, I was living in Lancaster, PA and we had SIX INCHES of sleet, and then several inches of wet snow...it all froze solid that night, and it took WEEKS of temps in the 40s and 50s to melt the literal glacier that formed. Cars that hadn't been cleaned out were pretty much frozen in place. It was quite an incredible experience.
  6. Got about an inch and a half from the band that went through. It started off as a mix of graupel and snow, and then went to gigantic flakes. I am hoping it might train over me a bit longer.
  7. Snow squall just got here. Snowing and blowing like mad right now.
  8. This year, it's a higher likelihood than several inches of snow!
  9. You apparently didn't read BGM's discussion. It was just as delightful. After the p-type issues/challenges are resolved and all the precipitation is in the form of rain, the next area of concern will be the potential for locally heavy rain and runoff leading to potential flooding issues. This time frame is still very far out, but there are some indications that our forecast area could see a prolonged period of relatively deep moisture advecting in with steady rain streaming north into the region. Several inches of rain are possible Saturday before the cold air appears to arrives Sunday along with a drier air mass and a change back to snow.
  10. I got over an inch of snow at my house last night. More than I was expecting! lol
  11. I noticed that with the GFS too. Now that my break is over and I go back to work on Monday, I won't have time to check the models obsessively...which is definitely a GOOD THING!
  12. Getting decent snow showers here. So refreshing to see white covering everything again!
  13. Looks like there is a really good snow shower over Fulton heading your way.
  14. Looks like Parish is getting a nice snow shower. Starting to snow here.
  15. I am skeptical of that map. Perhaps where Carol lives. But certainly not where I was at in Redfield. There is a webcam now in the area I was in, and there is grass everywhere. Farther up in Redfield in latitude and elevation there is still a solid snowpack. The massive number of thaws ruined it for me last winter. As I've stated numerous times, these winters are not just ugly, but are really hard on the economy of that area. I lost my job, in part, because of the CRAP winter last year....leading to many less visitors to the place I was employed at. My apologies if I have really bothered both you and freak. I enjoy laughing and smiling too...really, I do.
  16. Relax, it was all in good fun. You tend to make statements about actions you are going to take when you're frustrated with the weather. Not really sure what's up with the comment about me not being satisfied (other than a slight defense mechanism by you)...I think almost none of us are satisfied with the state of the past couple winters. It's irritating as crap, and my coping mechanism is to sarcastically joke about the awfulness of it all. Almost all of my winters living in the Great Lakes have been underwhelming and a huge disappointment....last winter sucked on the Southern Tug where I was at. Same this year. I came here definitely with lesser expectations...but still for WINTER. It is what it is...and of course I'm bummed. But, I am happy for my wife, as she has certainly been getting her "Virginia winter" she so desires.
  17. Wow, if you really want to get down in the dumps, read BGM's latest discussion. Pretty much no snow on the ground if you're not on a mountain. Dismissing any real opportunity of lake effect snow tonight, no talk of tomorrow evening, and chatting about rain/snow mix for Tuesday...
  18. I look forward to your post in 1 minute...oh wait, you already posted again! Not true. I still have some snow piles in my neighborhood. I think I saw BuffaloSummerWeather sledding down one of them in his shorts yelling, "I....NEED....MY....WINTER...FIX!"
  19. Next week looks like it's going to be cutter after cutter after cutter.
  20. I would rather we see nothing. So sick of rain!
  21. Whatever snow we get this week will be washed away by the Springtime monsoons the 12Z runs are showing for next weekend. Aye carumba!
  22. True winter will hit for one week. February 16th to the 23rd when I am in Florida for "winter" break. Mark it down, weenies.
  23. Perhaps there will be a "Syracuse special" where we can get a couple inches of lake effect/enhanced snows this weekend. Just had some gigantic snowflakes coming down here.
  24. Hey, freak, don't you just love how all the models now show this system putting the screws to all of us in Northern Syracuse suburbs??? It's like the system was designed just for you, me, and our buddies in Clay and Brewerton.
  25. Yep, reminds me exactly of my winters growing up in SE PA. Always on the rain/snow line...hoping for a bit of cold to change it over to snow...watch it all melt within in the next two days...then temps in the 40s and brown everything until the next possibility 2 weeks later.
