  1. @Syrmax, look! We got a coating to an inch while places just to our south and east got 4 to 6 inches! Don't you just love our mid-Atlantic climate? The cynicism and bitterness is strong within us as we get missed in every direction for 3 years straight. But, hey, I live 175 feet higher than the village of Baldwinsville and clearly got more snow than the village did. Higher elevation for the win.
  2. If the 0Z models follow the Nam and 18Z Euro...shaking my head. It's been uncanny how many times this season Syracuse has been in a good spot on the models for days and days. Then within 2 days before the event, all of a sudden things shift and we've gotten screwed (usually to the north and west). This will be a major sting if we get missed to the south and east this time.
  3. I was referring more to the part of BGM getting rocked with 3 feet and we got like 3 STUPID INCHES up here.
  4. Snowed out?!? In Geneva? This winter? You don't belong here...
  5. Yawn. Here we go. Northern Onondaga county is going to get shafted again. I swear Southern Onondaga county has had like 3 feet more snow than us this winter.
  6. He's still buried under a lake enhanced snow drift at ROC airport. Duh.
  7. I suppose we had to have summer-like weather on Sunday in order to get our best snowfall of the season. Today's big wet fatties here are a nice precursor to what is hopefully to come this weekend.
  8. Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. I want snow on the ground as far into April as I can get it. Bring on the March Blizzards and Darth Bands.
  9. It's interesting how during the winter, the time period of 10 am to 1 pm seems like a more difficult time for snow to accumulate due to solar effects than the 2 to 5 pm timeframe. We think of the "warmest time of day" in the summer as that 2 to 5 timeframe, but in the winter the sun's angle seems to be better for accums. at that time of the day.
  10. Ha! I'm really bummed that you guys got the shaft. I didn't steal your snow. Binghamton did! They got solid advisory amounts. Ground is now getting covered here with large snowflakes falling and covering everything though.
  11. Yeah, the Euro has been the opposite of NAM this year. It has not done a very good job this winter. It seems to me the NAM and Canadian (Ggem) have done a pretty good job this season.
  12. Nice, solid covering with huge, wet flakes coming down hard and accumulating. Temp is hovering around freezing. The overcast is actually quite low and thick, so solar radiation isn't affecting things too much. It looks like some nicer bands about to move through as well. Might actually make it to an inch or two by this evening. Congrats to the Southern Tier and Eastern NY crew.
  13. Of course it was. There's a reason I call it Saharasizzlesaharacuse. It's like the freakin sauna of New York state. 5 to 10 degrees warmer than everyone else (except Dansville), especially when there's a South wind. Don't even get me started on the snow drought...
  14. Looks like the Syracuse snow shield is holding strong. Ithaca is all white, and Auburn is showing moderately right now. Looks like it's just started in the city. A flake or two here. Overcast is thick, so maybe we can do better with accumulations if it starts here.
  15. I was just about to post. This weekend's system might not be the last snowstorm of the season.
  16. I appreciate it. I really hope so. We've had such big shifts within the short range this winter, that I'm a bit nervous. I take it this is more the typical storm that gives Syracuse its average.
  17. This weenie map definitely shows the higher elevation jackpots due to colder temps and better lift.
  18. Aw, man. I'm sure you were loving the heat in Mexico, but knowing your love for extreme weather, that might have been a tough one to miss! The models flip flopped all over the place for that one too. lol... Many times, posters gave up on getting anything good and it turned out to be a nice storm for many!
  19. Why do the models so often minimize snowfall over Oneida lake? Is that programmed somehow in their systems? I see it over and over again. The Ukmet AND Ggem both show it:
  20. Just spent some time reading through the March '17 Snowstorm thread. Looks like that winter was to Buffalo what this winter was to Syracuse. I definitely don't think this is going to be as big or cold as that one, but it could be a very impressive system.
  21. Lol...well, would you look at that. The Nam is north and west and looks like crap. Much farther south than at 18Z though, so that's a positive. Haha
