I bet surge in the harbour will equal or rival Juan. I know it’s a bold statement but that’s what I’m thinking. Especially with a south wind. If it tracks just west of the city.
My relatives are up off the water but it is starting to look bigger than Juan at this point.

I doubt it will be a 2 at landfall. Its weakening between the offshore point and the point near PEI. It will bad either way.
Not sure how susceptible Halifax Harbor is to surge? I would guess the big issue is downed trees because there are so many big beautiful trees in the Halifax-Dartmouth area, never mind the outskirts. Probably looking at a few days without power but not too much structural damage. I know folks in Yarmouth, Sable River, Lunenburg and Halifax.

Well it's game on. I was hoping for the best but it seems mother nature has other ideas.
Juan - "I am the most destructive Hurricane to hit Nova Scotia". Dorian - "hold me beer"
I'll try and gets pics and any major updates for as long as I can.
Good luck! My sister in law and family are in Dartmouth so I'll try to stay in touch with them and get pictures if they can.

There is a thrift store next to where I work and I just got a $2, mint copy of "Path of Furry" a pictoral history of the 6/01/11 tornado.

Congrats they moved east and north. Very little mosquito activity here too. Lots of garden slugs though
It's been a pretty dry summer here but we have had way more garden slugs than I have ever seen.

Let's get a hard freeze in here soon. The effing bees are driving me nuts.
Sooo many wasps and yellow jackets everywhere this year.

Looks like his last post was right before Scooter told him he was throwing linguini at the wall to see what would stick. The rest of us can annoy him but it seems Will, Ryan and Scooter are the ones that get him to take mini vacations.
Honestly, probably healthier for most of us to take some time away but that's a discussion for the resident psychologist.
You mean Tip?

CBC used to do a pumpkinfest of sorts where people would come and smash up pumpkins for use in the brewing process. Not sure if they still do.
Nice, you know! They are one of the few and I have been on that Pumpkin team in the past.
Meanwhile, pretty awesome day and evening. Late summer goodness.

The brewery your at does not do a pumpkin beer or an IPA?
No! Very few breweries actually use pumpkin in their "pumpkin beers". Big pain in the ass and our brewer would never use an extract.

I think Sept is the best time of year, That's when all the pumpkin flavors show up.
Those of us in the beer business disagree.

Greene, RI. Didn't realize Rhode Island got this rural. Just E of Cucumber Hill.

Enjoying an epic Labor Day weekend grilling and chilling with friends on the rural RI/CT border. Not far from Ginx old stomping grounds.

Met friend of mine that I interned with lived in Delanson in the 90s and always seemed to do well.
Your bare spots comment reminds me of places around here only it's exposed areas after cutters. With nothing to stop warm air it flows right up the Willimantic River Valley but other places retain snow better. It's why I think elevated valleys are the best of both worlds.
Yeah, I'm in the small, tight, Green River Valley so I radiate very well and have amazing snow retention but I don't have the elevation to cash in. If we were to stay in this area, MPM's old neighborhood up in Shelburne had the elevation and some decent retention and delightfully cool summer temps. However, I think the snow "cash in" zones are probably a bit further East in Shutesbury and Petersham where you can be well over 1000' and still get the coastal deforms. Savoy is pretty awesome as is the area of Heath I had a property offered to me but they still don't make the cut sometimes for many of the major coastals. Yes, of course Savoy has the crazy 2000'+ elevation to be a winter wonderland but that West Quabbin high elevation territory is gold! However, it is also in the middle of nowhere relatively speaking for those who don't work from home and actually need to travel and have kids that enjoy seeing friends.

This east shift isn't really new.
Looking back over previous cycles the models really began that trend a while ago.
That said I would certainly hope no one's thinking they're out of the woods on this thing down there.
What's good for Florida may be hell for the Carolina's.

Ya pretty far east
Canadian High ftw? Although many weenies would be disappointed a full ots miss would be awesome. Partial landfall, slow crawler up the coast would not be so good but better than direct hit of course.
Fall Foliage 2019

We definitely have stressed maples starting to turn and swamp maples already flipping in Franklin Co. I'm feeling a somewhat short but explosive foliage fireworks this year in NW MA.
