What was it last year, white faced hornets inside the house or just outside on the house structure? They are nasty if you disturb them near their nest. Very painful stings too. Might be the most painful I've had. They just aren't as nasty as yellow jackets away from the nest. A yellow jacket will sting you pretty easily away from the nest...it's like they are just happy to be azzholes and sting for the hell of it...most other species of bees, wasps, and hornets wont bother you too much away from the nest.
8 -10 white face bites put me in the emergency room a couple of summers ago. I hit a nest on mowing and it felt like burning embers shooting into my shins, at first I thought maybe the lawnmower was throwing sparks.
After about 30 minutes it was insane burning and itching in my lymphatic areas and my face started to swell up. Sitting in the emergency room it started to get worse and worse and the staff kept telling me they were still nine people ahead of me in line so finally I told my wife to just tell them I was having chest pain's. They wheeled me in immediately LOL
They jammed a harpoon of epinephrine into my thigh, I thought my heart was going to explode, Now I have an EpiPen prescription. The funny thing is I had had plenty of stings over the years something about the wfh really made me react poorly. Fortunately I have not seen wfh in a few years but I'm still pretty cautious around Yellowjackets.

july-will-warmest-month-ever-recorded-boston
I find this all really interesting because it's really only been on the warm side of a normal summer here. Many of the hot days have been tolerable humidity so I guess that helps. There are no accurate long term records for this part of the state but I bet we have been no more than a +2 - +2.5 for July.

Looks more impressive on radar here that what is actually happening. Run o the mill
rain, thunder, some lightning
When you watch the long loop it's like Franklin Co had a force field up the way the storms just dissipated as they moved NE.

Rain and clouds temporarily knocked us down to 78F but should charge right back up when the sun pops back out.

Nice quick soaker moving through now, the garden is happy.

A lot of on and off clouds here today have limited upper end heat potential. So far 91/72 has been the high. A little less comfortable than yesterday for sure but we break tomorrow.

Already 80F in the shade here, DP70. We sweat.

ACATT Haven’t had any true COC k since mid June , so manufacture it to be 88/62 . Nice n comfy
CT has been roasting but NW MA has had some pretty nice warm and dry days with cool nights. It's 78F and bit humid but aren't these the summer nights we cherish?

CT is more than BDL & HFD. The problem is it's been hot but not humid overall. Sure we've had a few days here and there but that warmth has been mostly during the day with hot day time temperatures. You've been calling for an HHH summer and I've been asking where the other two H's are. They have been absent for the most part which has allowed for temps to drop at night. We've also had below normal days and one down right chilly day.
This July siting a few hundredths of a degree outside of being one of our top 10 warmest July's and there's still 3 days left to go so we'll see. I don't make stuff up. I record my high and low temperature every day using the same methods I've been using for 35 years.
You've doubled down and called for August to have at least 15 days with a Dp of 70 or higher but haven't qualified where and what counts which means you'll be able to claim you were right by cherry picking data and what qualifies. Congrats!
It's been normal summer here with the expected scattering of hot days. The cool nights have made it seem tolerable. I think I've only had 6 or 7 A/C days so far (far more in the car). This afternoon I'll probably need it.

New England beaches are absolutely world class. We've been stacking 10/10 days, great surf, perfect water temps... Folks of all ages looking like Cheshire cats. Sharks be damned, we play.
I don't get to CT or RI beaches very often but Cape Cod certainly has some fantastic white sand beaches.

We are missing all of the precipitation this summer complete opposite of last summer. I'll take it as long as we can get the QPF in the winter...
