The radar looks pretty juicy, somewhere between here and Albany is going to get drowned for a few hours. Really hoping I am on the fringe of that stuff, not really interested in inches of rain.
-
Count me in.

Is this setup what old timers used to call a screaming sou’easter?
I think Sou’easter comes in W of us?

Bright and sunny at my house but pretty incredible fog in downtown Greenfield. Cold morning warm Connecticut River will do that I suppose.

But yeah, I would love big December storm. I believe two years ago W MA had a pretty good December.

Been a while since we had a real good December storm around here. I think Boxing Day was the last one if I remember correctly.
Those of us in WNE kindly ask forum residents to not discuss that particular storm. TIA

Gusts to 35-40 is the max out here from a coastal.
Maybe above 1000' but that would have to be a hell of a storm storm to get you gusting 35-40.

Thanks for the tip. In planning on driving up to Sugarloaf Mountain, perhaps a bit further. Hopefully it's not crazy crowded midweek.
It will be fine. Get off I-91 down around Hatfield and take 5/10 from there. More rewarding views imo. After Sugarloaf it is only a short drive into Greenfield/Shelburne/Colrain. Here is one nice side trip: After the rotary take Rt 2 W a few miles to Peckville Road, you will see the sign for APEX orchards, take that right and go up the hill 2 miles. The view is kill up there and Apex has a little cider store and deck with long views East. Plus all the apples you can eat. If hard cider is more your thing go visit W Co Cider in the barn across the street. You can pull right up to both places so non-difficult access.

I'm off to the Pioneer Valley tommorow.
The foliage in Greenfield and points west is off the charts good this week.

If model trends hold, somewhere in WNE or ENY will see a period of prolific rains. Luckily this will move relatively fast until it possibly retros over Maine.

Gfs shifted west with the low
Oh' how I pray for a valley dryslot. Deep rain deficit here but would rather make it up slowly. Not too worried about winds, out here those are only a worry for the 1k+ club in the hill towns.

Maybe he's thinking Lake Quinsigamond? "That party boat was the pride of the Shrewsbury side, coming back from some dive bar in Worcerster. As the pontoon boats go it was drunker than most with the crew and good captain all heavin".

What does any of that and your snow experience have to do with fast flow?
u seem to be taking some kind of exception to the notion of a fast flow like you don’t want it to happen ...?more than analyzing objectively/considering weather can so I’m done with this conversation.
Well, it does seem like we have been discussing "fast flow" as the current paradigm for quite a while now. More than just 2019.

I think this ends up uderwhelming those of us on land. A little too far off the coast for meaningful wind impact or prolonged +RA.

Maybe the models begin to pick on faster flow and this misses phasing. I'm not interested in 2-3" of rain so weenies on Nantucket can see tropical force gusts. Not that I have a choice of course.

Getting close to full moon. Love the wave pics posted above, this has been a complete non-event out here.

Oh' wow, I hadn't checked in much today or looked at the radar. That sucks. It was mostly cloudy here but low 60's.

Faster than modeled upper level flow bump this forecast East? Certainly a nice day and beautiful evening here. Big qpf bust on most models.

I've brought this up before but the City of Boston is taking a survey right now on a master plan for the Common. If enough people mention having a weather station there, they'd have to look into it:

Here's your chance!
Sweet! Thanks.

Moderate rain. Big, fat, cold drops, yay. A few gusts but no wind to speak of yet but not expecting much in the valley.
