  1. We had an issue a few years ago where our Internet and TV were getting erratic and they essentially had to replace a 1/2 mi length of cable because so many people on our street were complaining. The technician I talked to said that back and forth with warm weather and cold weather in the spring caused issues with creating slack in the lines. Supposedly that compromised the strength of the signal, at the time I called BS on what he was saying but I am not an electrical engineer. I suppose if the carrying capacity of the wire was somehow compromised it could cause issues.
  2. I’m all for one more week of heat if it’s 88-90. Summer.
  3. In Falmouth for the week next week! I will say hello to Old Silver Beach for you.
  4. Aren’t there some climatologists that claim the last Ice Age came on very quickly based on ice core samples?
  5. We are so far from done. The mental toll will really ramp up by winter if this continues with no finish line in sight. Then we get to the fuk it stage where some people start to give up and stop masking and distancing.
  6. I was talking to a nurse practitioner from Baystate medical last night and she said Franklin Co has had 4 positives in the past month. A few more than that at Baystate Springfield but she said they only had two people hospitalized for it right now.
  7. Summer hotter than others, you know they must have played together somewhere that night! Back in my Cambridge days I occasionally clinked glasses of Makers Mark with Peter Wolf and he had more than a few Muddy Waters stories to tell. He carries around a laminated, original Muddy biz card in his wallet.
  8. I think I have had 9 or 10 over 90F this summer and despite our 90-100 mile difference, we usually are not that far off wrt temps.
  9. Hoping for a nice warm week in Falmouth next week!
  10. Fell apart pretty quickly as they moved across E Slope of Berks. 10 minute shower here was it.
  11. That’s a lot of wood! We heat 70% wood 30% oil and I only need about 2 cords/yr. House is 1500 sq/ft.
  12. Thanks, just read up on it. I’ll get a bag. Not sure I would do the vacuum trick again but it was kind of fun and it certainly seemed to work. It was an area of yard I didn’t really want to use a lot of pesticides on so it was a worthy experiment.
  13. I tried the shop vac trick today on a ground wasp nest (yellow jacket) and it seemed to work! Long hose on the vacuum and I duct taped it to my fully extended snow rake handle. I slid the end of the nozzle in front of the hole from 15’ away, ran to the garage and plugged it in. After running it for about 30 minutes there was no more flight activity around the hole. Kept it running while I dragged it back to safety and taped the opening shut. Now I need to let it sit for a few days in the sun. i’ll investigate again in the morning. The neighbors probably thought I was crazy out there in a hooded ski jacket, mask and goggles.
  14. It literally only rained for about a minute here.
  15. Just scored 2 1/2 cords of dry hardwood for $400! 2 years aged mostly oak with some maple and birch. I have to load and unload it myself but can’t beat the price.
  16. China has huge purchase orders for US corn this year due to all of the flooding there. Time to buy corn futures?
  17. My buddy in The Mission said San Francisco was over 90 today. Thats rare.
  18. Pretty nice day, hit 92 here but was not as humid in the afternoon. 2 trips to the neighbors pool today. Once after brewing and once after dinner. Water 82F. 74/64 now, we take.
  19. I may go ahead and buy the Sun-Fri Berkshire East season passes for the family this week. I don't know what conditions this winter will bring but under $1200 for the 3 of us is a good deal. If school is virtual all winter I anticipate a lot of afternoon trips to the mountain.
  20. Not sure I'll stay awake for the line of T-storms since they seem to be losing their mojo. 75/66 may be my warmest 11pm reading of the summer.
