  1. Sun has returned in full force here in Media Delaware County total rain today 0.57" no severe thunderstorms here either. upper low is pulling away to our northeast through SE NY we are done here today.
  2. That line Coatesville to West Chester to Exton up into Montgomery County looks pretty nasty. Winds here in Media Delaware County have gone easterly could be a bit of convergence and uplift in Chester County. The sun is trying to poke out here through the high clouds blowing off the thunderstorm tops.
  3. We just had a heavy downpour no thunder no wind heading Northeast lasted less than 10 minutes total now up to .24" from 0.04"
  4. 0.04" here in Media Delaware County a brief downpour thunder. I drove 5 miles away in Springfield and they were getting 40 mph winds CTG strikes and well over an inch of rain.
  5. Hmmm I will be at Kitty Hawk NC wonder what that would look like there?
  6. If it does gain latitude it will cruise right into shear and Saharan Dust.
  7. If only it were January for our south Jersey friends lol
  8. Wind east now mesoscale low exiting stage right from Stone Harbor looks like Wildwood Cape May got hammered this morning.
  9. I’m in Sea Isle City this week. Had a strong storm around 2:40 swore I saw a weak funnel cloud on the southwest side of that storm. picked up most likely .50” or so at 68th and Pleasure.
  10. Friend in Cape Coral Florida says they are reporting significant Saharan Dust?? How can there be Saharan Dust when the across the Atlantic has been predominately west to east for weeks? I have been looking at the Water Vapor Maps for weeks going back to June. Perhaps it is not Saharan Dust but rather smoke from the Wildfires in Canada? Thoughts?
  11. Hmmm looking at the water vapor map looks like we have an early look at the Polar Vortex over Hudson Bay. Guess it is just a matter of time until the smoke from the fires in Western Quebec comes back down? Are those fires still burning up there?
  12. Media, Delaware County 1.70" total for today (yesterday 3.00") 2-day total of 4.70". The sun has made an appearance with clouds racing from the east and a light ENE wind I suppose from developing low pressure to our south what is this weather pattern?
  13. Media calm cloudy interesting that the dewpoint here is bouncing around 74 down to 67 then back up to 70
  14. Media Delaware County Partly Sunny 84 dewpoint 75 pressure 29.79 falling wind SSE 11 mph So far today 0.47" Awaiting the Major line from the west I saw Darby Creek in Drexel Hill at Baltimore Pike is at bank full probably moving through at 35-45 mph this could put Darby area under water later tonight should this line slow down and drop 3"+
  15. Final Rain total 3.00" on the button. That should set the stage pretty well for tomorrow and tomorrow night.
  16. Media Delaware County crushed by that storm in my backyard. 75-foot Mountain Maple is down and crushed two sheds and another tree. So far 2.76" of rain and still coming down moderate to heavy. The Lightning was severe winds gusted past 50 mph here as well.
  17. Light to Moderate Rain with thunder and lightning south probably pick up 0.10" of rain at best. Nothing severe here. 73f
  18. We have 87 with 44% humidity in Media, Delaware County. There is a lot more sun right now than at any point yesterday so ample heating going on at the moment. Also, the sky is finally blue the smoke is gone for now.
  19. I appreciate what you said, "Our Ray gets a couple of featured quotes", It's the men and women of the NWS that are the true forecasters that keep us informed and safe!
  20. So what is it? It was it wasn't? Channel 10 last night at 11 said it was a confirmed tornado in New London Chester County while the other storms in Berks and Lehigh Counties were funnel clouds. Something here smells of ratings and patting of backs instead of truthful forecasting. The lack of truthful forecasting and that of ratings first is what has caused me not to pursue a career in Meteorology even though I know I have the passion and knowledge to do so. I will be dammed if I am forecasting, and others tell me what to say instead of what is truly happening. Okay I am off my rant now.
  21. Umm I don't disagree with your ideas about the wild fires it appears to be blocking out the sun keeping it cooler albeit smokey. However, I think we barely had any snow less than 5" back in 2002 down here in SE PA if I recall correctly.
  22. Total rainfall here in Media exactly 3" from last night. Had a tree come down because of the winds last night and shear weight of the water on the tree.
  23. Moderate Rain here in Media 1.75" total for the night so far another round looks poised to come through. We are over 8" for the month of June I believe possibly a bit higher. In May we had 0.04" total for the month just wow!
  24. Wish I could check the rain gauge torrential here since 10:25 pm. The lightning is just too dangerous to go out. Seeing 16 thousand plus without power most in Delaware County. I am understanding that Springfield Delaware County was hit especially hard but it was pretty bad here in Media as well.
