FCX radar has the southern version of the classic westminster death band going on.

Bob quick question- I know we are in nowcasting mode but the 12z Euro showed  more additional snow by late tonight then what I thought we were going to see. Thoughts plz?

Coming down good in Williamsburg. Everything is white except the roads, this is a lot more than I expected here, to be honest. I am not even under an advisory.

Euro last 3 runs definitely showed enough that you should have had a WWA.

On another note. Got folks texting me in Newport News saying I didn’t call for snow for them lol (I did for Williamsburg tho). Radar echos can be misleading as it is showing heavy rain there. Evaporational cooling with heavy precip I guess.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 4 AM
    EST MONDAY...

    * WHAT...Wet snow, moderate to heavy at times will develop late
this morning and continue through the day. The snow may mix with
rain at times, especially closer to I-95, as temperatures rise
above freezing. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches can be
expected. Some light icing is possible tonight, as temperatures
    drop below freezing.

    * WHERE...Portions of central Virginia.

    * WHEN...From 10 AM EST this morning to 4 AM EST Monday.

    * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions and
potentially dangerous travel today into tonight. The wet nature
of the snow will also allow it to stick to tree limbs which
    could cause some isolated outages.
    Recommended actions
A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather
conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you
must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.

This is the type of storm Richmond would typically cash in on. They often miss out on storms that nail places just north. I hope the GFS is wrong. That would be pretty brutal. I was basically just parroting DT with the the Richmond 'snow hole' comment. I sincerely apologize to all the snow lovers in the Richmond vicinity. I meant no ill will. I am rooting for an over-performer for y'all. Good luck.

Lol!! I was just wondering. GFS against everything else??? I’ll take everything else haha.

I can just about guarantee Asheville won’t see 18 inches. They only reached it in the 93 superstorm with a far more favorable setup. Just moved back to dc after living there for a couple years.  Downsloping always hurts there. The mountains around Asheville will get hammered

So how much snow are you forecasting for Asheville?
