@ CAPE We Shoremen are blessed to live in the land of pleasant living for sure. Yesterday I worked in the garden, was hoping for a little snow to cover up the strawberries one more time. The weather was simply glorious, it even makes you (almost) miss the insect madness of the approaching warm season. But true enough, my weenie mind wasn’t giving much credence to the trends. I learn alot from you guys, and was sorta paying attention, just rolled my mental dice in denial. Haha the pity flakes have now begun!

I really didn’t expect anything, but the shore was on a heater. Was.

2-4 inches? 100% chance, eh? That must have been a typo. It is bone dry in Kent County, lol, it’s barely sprinkled a few drops of rain. Northwest trend for the win, things back to more normal. But the GFS suckered us lowlanders on this event. Everyone eventually gets a turn on screwage in the mid-Atlantic. Over time it happens way more often on the shore. Been almost 20 here for the season and won’t complain. Carry on!

Quite the event, impressive storm. Southernmost Dorchester County got started later (8:00 pm)but caught the heavy outer coastal band for a bit. It’s blowing hard , gusting 30-40. Roads must be a drifting mess. At least 4 inches fell but it’s so windy that getting a good measurement will be difficult. I’ve spent alot of time down here, the weather on this peninsula jutting into Fishing Bay/Tangier Sound is high volatility.

Arrived at my house in Crocheron at 5:30 p. to dry weather no precip and 38. Had driven in snow from Chestertown until Trappe. Snow didn’t begin here at the bottom of Dorchester Co. until 7:20. North wind picking up now and so is the snow.

That's precisely correct, and every single one of us has moments where we are not at our best, or what we strive to be. I enjoy the learning, the commenters and their persona. Respect to you, it is self-uplifting to acknowledge our emotions, our personal shortcomings. Are there people here who don't understand that they don't understand? Absolutely, as there are all over the world. They make themselves obvious and aren't here long. Cheers, your commentary is a reason among many to come here.

That was truly awe-inspiring. There was near-zero visibility for awhile in Kent Co., MD this morning. Snow literally was visibly accumulating while you observed for just moments. Tree damage in my yard from 11 inches. What a powerful storm!

It’s of a Portland cement nature and heavy so heavy amounts could damage trees and shrubs. Obviously hope it attains more ratio but it’s coming down hard.

Eastern Shore pummeling incoming?!?! Who woulda thunk it even a day or so ago? (Hint: The rabid snow-starved of the Mid-Atlantic forum often fear a coastal fringing when things looking strong for the plain.) Not that this can’t go awry, but to say we are all due is obvious. Some day, maybe tomorrow(!)we’ll see…

You mean to say that we're going to be treated to some more uppershoresadness? Or will it possibly be a mauling up and down the shore? Things have been so weird; that seems when, at times, improbable outcomes can and do happen. Or not.

Sad to learn of the loss of your Dad, it's really a difficult experience. You and your family were able to be there for/with him when he needed you the most, hang in there, take care, take heart and celebrate him. Here's to an uplifting '22.

My camellias are in bloom, the grass needs mowing, and the mosquitoes are active. And that was before the 2 days of “winter” that just concluded. 90 degree days can’t be too far off. Happy Easter!

The watch for the first actual possibility of seeing something, anything frozen, continues to yield zip as December rushes toward January, my grass is showing significantly green and even rain is paltry. Plenty of wind. The Eastern Shore dweller knows general snowlessness is a fact of life. Recently its been an annual event. Excellent for working outdoors, and no complaints overall. Inevitably , some, wherever they live, may develop some level of “uppershoresadness” with the passage of several more weeks if things don’t improve. Certain posters have this malady year round anyway. That said, there’s plenty of good stuff that may happen yet. Some day…..

Yes I did see that program. Thanks, that part of the Bay country is overwhelmingly spectacular in its beauty to me. I’ve spent a lot of time there. There is always the tide, and it’s always a potential player.

I have a house located in Crocheron across the bay from Solomons. The Bishops Head tide gauge is less than 2 miles from the house. My co-owner travelled there yesterday from Towson, taking over 2.5 hours on flooded roads from Cambridge to drive 30 miles to Crocheron, and was present to experience the brutal full brunt of the tidal flooding last evening’s high tide when the BH gauge hit 5.13 feet, and unfortunately tide came right on in. Our garage and den had 5 or 6 inches of water in it. Many homes were flooded multiple times in the past 48 hours. A real mess when seawater gets indoors. The road in front of the house was 2 feet underwater…. Helluva storm there yesterday, full on gale force. Western shore got hammered badly also with the wind forcing water to the west. That’s life in a flood zone, sadly.

Last night’s radar was amazing to watch. It propagated northward and eastward up across the Bay, literally to the Chester River, where it turned more easterly such that the heavy cells streamed just south of my location. It rained hard for a couple brief moments then gently. There was 2 inches within a few miles to the south. It’s still been pretty dry, haven’t been covered by heavy rain at all. The last few nights have been optimal for viewing spectacular lightning in the distance though…. 0.20 inches last night….
