  1. The disappointment is palpable since the models largely missed the deal............The quoted statement somewhat rings true, the forum is often a hostile place to comments if you're not a street-credded member. And banter anytime (only for the mafia though or you get lit up) even when in storm mode................ BUT, being taken seriously is earned, which is why I'm not a regular poster.....( On topic, It's a sleetfest right now in Chestertown, roads are terrible. 3 people live here, I'm the only poster I know of rom this northish part of the sticks) Not north enough! So, smartass that I am, I'll go back to chuckling at the meltdowns and the butthurt, reading but not posting. This site is a place to learn from others, and I see posters who were once vilified now being accepted as valid contributors. Why? because they are making valid contributions (unlike this post) The more knowledgeable definitely prefer it that way from most of us .............there are people who have apparently have a lot of time to spend on writing comments, which is what makes it fun. Well, depending on who it is, some folks are just in their own world. If it wasn't fun, why would anyone be involved in this madness-inducing hobby? Have fun and be safe! %)
  2. I remember some terrible ice storms from 1994. Ice on that magnitude is yet another awe-inspiring force. Listening to trees and branches snapping and crashing to the ground in the dark is unsettling at best. Have 2 wood stoves and generator but as a woodland dweller I’ll take a big pass on significant zr.
  3. Mighty depressing forecast even for February for sure. No one sane roots for ice storms.
  4. As the crow flies im maybe 25-30 northwest of you. Southwestern Kent County. looking outside there appears to be @ 3 +/- inches. Sleet was mixing last night @ 1030 But that northern tier modeling was pretty accurate apparently. I’ll take this as a win anytime. Still, overall, what a struggle this region continues to have.
  5. I think what constitutes, or not, intelligent discussion is subjective to each viewer. Are some people just annoying as a matter of opinion? Certainly! Anyone who comes here with an open mind can learn a great deal from many knowledgeable people who share without rancor or judgment. Thanks for enlightening us as to your subjectively superior insight, and for counselling these hapless, voluntarily miserable, unwashed weenies with an excellent rhetorical self-check.. Well done..............
  6. My snow is definitely stale and more an ice slab. Last night's Delmarva bonus band formed just south and east of my home. Salisbury/Seaford/milford/lewes had some nice action. No worries, it will all be gone and then perhaps we eventually get refreshed. Or wet.
  7. .2 in my yard 6 miles southwest of Chestertown Total for last winter and this one is now a mind-boggling .6 Hovering near freezing, but not for long......was nice while it lasted..
  8. January showers bring February flowers any more I can hardly recall what it is like to have a one-inch accumulating snow here on the shore it hasn’t done so imby in two years so missing the rainsnowslurry is just par for the course sigh
  9. I had measurable frost twice in the past week. ;)........sigh.
  10. I've measured .4 inches of frost the past 2 mornings. That's the Delmarva version of snow these past several years. There was, however, some very cool low-level, fairly dense freezing fog today, in addition.
  11. Riding the positive vibe train and the trend toward the second half of January despite a drought for meaningful snow on the upper Eastern Shore that has reached an astounding scale even by our failure standards. Looking better that we might eventually break out! But............. I and a few other posters live where snow is usually an occasional novelty rather than long in duration and depth. Mud, on the other hand? I live in the heart of muck central. Pretty much who doesn't these days. Slant-sticked 3-4 inches in parts of mby this morning......
  12. But, but but........... if there's no cold air, how will the rain stay mainly on the plain? Lol HNY to all. Except Ji.
  13. 34. I would actually love to see the dry slot rather than 1-2 inches of cold rain; the state of my yard is, and pretty much has been for several months, a quagmire. Elevation here in southwestern Kent County MD is 16.69 feet and the Chesapeake Bay water doesn't help it snow, ever. I'll hopefully see more tomorrow than the .3 of slush that I recorded all last winter. lol Good luck all!
  14. THIS is completely revealing! Such fun! No coexisting with people you don’t agree with. All of those who disagree with her are morons? Who knew? No wonder we weren’t deemed grown up enough to be allowed to discuss corona.
  15. 1/8 inch or more and schools will be closed down ......the enthusiasm and nailbiting tension in this thread due to the possibly approaching flizzard is palpable, the visuals, however.......
  16. Rain mixing with more rain, and followed by rain....still plenty of time for improvement, or not
  17. What a great run of winter weather the lower shore had this season, it will long be remembered........So, how's everyone enjoying the rain and mud? Also, has anyone noticed that the models are "depicting" a return to below normal toward the end of the medium range?
  18. Today's forecast is slush/slop followed by concrete....And the epic cold goes on with barely a pause, just enough to screw up yesterday's potentially good snow event. March will be in lion mode this year
  19. Amazing! that happened real fast. Thanks for sharing, N'easter.....We truly are witnessing some serious late-season vodka cold, I think people are long going to remember this winter. it appears that there's going to be a lot more ice out there as the upcoming 7m days offer little to no relief....This is right up there with the winters experienced in the late '70's.....
  20. This cold snap is epic; it's extended and I do believe that a healthy portion of the Chesapeake is going to ice over if the wind eases down.....As for snow, we are looking pretty good at this lead and confidence is growing. The magnitude of this cold airmass and the fact that it simply keeps reloading an active pattern boosts our chances. Would be truly fun if the Delmarva got slammed whilst the I-95 corridor west gets fringed...... bunch of chicken neckers....
  21. The 273+- pity flakes I saw a short while ago qualify as a burst this winter I guess.....
  22. Thanks for the article. Given the economy and the deficit, seems as though any span is an extreme longshot, (seems similar to the waning possibilities for significant snow(s)on the lower shore/southern Md). Agree on the bay's freezing likelihood being low, the deep cold would have to be in place for at least a week or longer. Rivers/creeks will stiffen up. I'm old enough to recall the epic cold of the late '70's.......Feb. '79 saw heavy freezing even in the lower bay iirc....
  23. Dorchester county will never suffer a bridge, the whole idea is bankrupt government insanity. There will be considerable ice, if it's real cold for a week I think the main bay very well freeze
  24. Today's weather will be mostly cloudy with a 100% chance of snow geese
  25. Getting muddier now, soon the mud will be concrete, then snowless rinse and repeat.......
