  1. Everyone knows that once Memorial Day weekend hits the educational process is essentially done. Year round school would not work for a variety of reasons. The staff and students need time to recharge. And to get away from one another for awhile.
  2. ....and the last 10-15 school days in June are optimal when staff and students are fried???
  3. I think it would be better off to have a remote learning day.
  4. Some private schools in Ma and some school districts in NH are having remote learning days.
  5. All of the schools districts now have the ability to provide education remotely. I applaud the school districts that cancel in session education but still conduct the educational process online.
  6. Since school resumed in early January many school districts have lost entire days or partial days due to Covid testing for the school staff, Jan 7th snowstorm, a cold day(1/11), MLK Day, 1/31 some districts were closed or had delayed openings, and now today.....oh and add in the ever popular "Professional Development Day" that many school districts have at least once per month.
  7. Already are a lot of angry parents and teachers. I know many people who work in education and they are tired of school being cancelled the evening prior to next school day. Some school districts haven't had a full week if classes since week ending December 18th.
  8. You likely felt and heard the bang of a Davis being thrown against a wall in Tollland..
  9. I have been standing in a puddle for the last 2 hours waiting for the greatest flash freeze of all time to arrive....I am disappointed... but on the bright side at least it is a wet rain.....
  10. kinda hard to wear a seatbelt while walking to school in all sorts of weather...
  11. Back in the day there was a 1000 times better chance of running into Miss Universe while walking to school than school being cancelled for what is expected on Friday....
  12. Not related to the storm but related to winter weather.....Today is the 63rd anniversary of The Day The Music Died...
  13. 1) The world is ending newscasts 2) Schools close for Friday without even waiting to see if there is any ice/sleet/snow on Friday morning 3) The same people who filled 4 shopping carts with groceries prior to the blizzard do the same tonight or tomorrow. Some may even have groceries left in their vehicles from pre blizzard shopping. 4) Bags of ice melt become worth more than Bitcoin 5) The Weather Channel flies in as many people as possible including people who do not even work for the Weather Channel. 24/7 coverage. Mike Seidel isn't blown over by the wind. 6) Someone on the forum mentions that his wife has thrown him out of the house after his wish for a complete collapse of the power grid has come to fruition. Outside of those it will be a very typical day!
  14. Just based on past experiences the worse icing events in the Merrimack Valley area have occurred during late afternoon and into the night.
  15. Keep in mind that the major icing occurred overnight in 2008. This past Christmas it took awhile for the ice to accumulate because it was during the day. I think it would have been different if the xmas icing event had occurred later in the afternoon or evening.
  16. I'm liking this one for the potential for wintry weather.
  17. Back in the day the TV/radio mets would always mention the snowpack in situations like the one expected on friday. The popular term was "outdoor refrigerator"
  18. At this time I wouldn't both much stock in any of the models
