  1. I've only been living in Connecticut since 2006, previously I lived in NYC and Suffolk County. Honerable mention has to Hurricane Gloria and Hurricane Bob. Gloria was the most intense hurricane I've seen. I didn't experience Bob directly, but storm chased the extreme damage in Eastern Suffolk County.
  2. It seems like I've been at Sugarloaf, Maine for most of these weather events. 1 January 1998 ice storm. 1" of ice and 6" of sleet at Sugarloaf, with no power loss. Absolute devastation further South with 2 - 4'" of ice. State of emergency, couldn't go home. I've never seen power lines sag all the way to the ground without breaking. Most ice accumulation I've ever seen. Freezing rain for 3 consecutive days . 2 April 2007 Nor'easter, the end of 100" of snow from a series of snow storms since the start of the month. Most snow I've ever seen in April. Stratton Maine was clearing snow with a highway grader. Snow Banks higher than the car along Route 27. 3 December 1989 Coldest skiing I've ever done -37F at Sugarloaf. 4 January 1996 Blizzard. At Sugarloaf skiing, had to come home to Bayside, Queens to dig out my parents house from 25" of snow. Severe cold at Sugarloaf, but snowfield skiing in January, which is very rare. 5 November 12th 2013, snow in Coventry on my Birthday. Honerable mention 10/18/09 2" of snow in Coventry. This remains the earliest snowfall I've seen.
  3. A new quad is being installed in the glades so snowmaking only took place on upper Rime and upper Superstar.
  4. Making snow through tommorow morning.
  5. There was a delay in footing installation due to unexpected rock blasting. I'm expecting to ride it this season. We will see I guess. They did the installation of the Green Chair during last ski season.
  6. I don't see any reason why It wouldn't.
  7. The new to Magic Mountain quad install is going on schedule and they hope to have it ready by January. I stopped by on Thursday to see what progress has been made. They base and tower footings are in place. The towers are painted and ready to install.
  8. Some fat flakes settling down currently, curiously without a radar return.
  9. Light snow with small flakes mixed with large ones. 1" New here since 6pm. 31F.
  10. Somers and Ellington coming in with around 5" as well.
  11. Last bit of organized snow moving through with big fluffy flakes.
  12. Flurries here, but it looks like more light snow is coming.
  13. Light/Moderate snowfall here with snow covered roads, 31F.
  14. Moderate snowfall here, sticking to the roads again, 32F
  15. I originally thought 6" was doable, I think Western Enfield may have that.
  16. Back to Arctic sand after a half hour of good snowfall.
  17. Finally getting some decent light snowfall with larger flakes.
