January Medium/Long Range: A snowy January ahead?
WEATHER53 replied to mappy's topic in Mid Atlantic
One thing I note is NWS has been too cold during this. Today was to be 27 in the Sat forecast. 28 Sunday and Min. . 31 today I don’t think temps have been colder even during the heavy snow so I’m thinking this 15 degree projection at 1pm during snow will likely be more like 20-23. Still plenty cold though -

I’d be delighted if it stays cold. Absent just 3/4 days it’s been a good cold run last 3 weeks -

First time I’ve seen blue all season up in the cold spot region. If that holds, 7/8 days later out dominant cold would end -
It’s wild down in this valley near north branch as 97% snow cover and not much sun and I topped out at just 42.

I want to make my observation and experiences in peace without the same two twits jumping on it like it’s their way or the highway . You can assist with that. Until I am not harassed then my vigorous response to the chiding will continue. Let’s try to treat this as my response to instigation until the instigation stops because it takes two to tango and not just one

I got a very special message for you. Just keep your control freak shit up. . Your what does the 360 hour gfs say in 8 paragraphs is not the only conversation in here and far far from the best

Our best cold source region is still producing and will continue thru at least first week if Feb I have been prattling on endlessly about that and have been oh so correct for almost a month -
High temp forecasts probably missing as southerly winds are light and many miles of snowpack to traverse

Mongolia has kept it up and still is. We were predicted to get frigid once before and we got quite cold instead so let’s see if this batch hits us right on. It looks like rollover cold which puts Dakotas at -30 for lows and is modified by about 30 when it gets here but that would still be extremely cold here, highs 15-20 and lows 0 to 5 -
DCA is on the edge of a river with the river to the east north and south and an urbanized area to the west. Are you switching now off the river excuse while omitting the much larger bay, and pretending DCA is surrounded by an urbanized area and Annapolis is in the sticks? You are about the lone soldier remaining banging the drum for all good at DcA

DCA had done well during the wind cold and but its inadequacies are back today running 3-5 higher than surrounds i watched Annapolis closely during all this. It was consistently 2-3 degrees lower than DCA. Many excuse DCA over the River. Annapolis has a 5X larger and 3-5X deeper Bay. If anything Annapolis should be a degree or two milder.
