Wow. Annapolis peaked at 35. DCA 41.. Kinda puts a crimp in the around water folly .Found another at 38 but most 36/37.
-
High of 36 for me. Most of afternoon 34/35
-
Big difference today for highs between those who still have mostly snow cover and those mostly bare .
-
Low of 13 Trying to recover but snowpack is tough here and up to 26.5
-
11pm and 23F. Full shade is still 3” hard pack now. Full sun has few bare spots and rest 1-3”

We ice skated and sledded many times every year, it was rare when we could not

It has many stations within 10 miles of it that do not support your assessment. DCA is not over by the Williard which is all buildings all close together, streets, no green space DCA has a tree lined parkway running next to it and water surrounding most sides of it. Annapolis is further east at same c elevation and close to a much bigger body of water yet is generally 3+ degrees colder it should actually be warmer but DCA us flawed, . Camp Springs/Andrews further east and developed and always colder. DCA does ok when winds mix things up and homogenize. When its clear and calm , DCA has impediments to radiation to such an extreme that something artificial is prohibitory

Back then this is the way it was for about 12 of the 15 winters between 1957 to 1972

27.6 at 4pm after a high of 28.2 in Kemp Mill and 25 in Frederick Let the plunging begin
-
Down to 27.8 after peaking at 28.2 and maximum in the direct sun just 33.3 so very little melting and little oomph to the sun
-
Just hit 28 and I think that’s it

January Medium/Long Range: Chasing more snow to close out the month
WEATHER53 replied to mappy's topic in Mid Atlantic
I’m not worried. I put out the Mongolian Mania in late December and it provided. There’s still nothing up there to mess us up. Is isn’t as pronounced as before , just very good instead of exceptional . Any winter will have a week of 40’s . -

There are too many depressos who feel others should feel it -
I’m saying this before the 1pm comes out but predicted highs were 32-35 and at 12 noon temps actually23-25. I’m wondering if snow well to the south is thwarting southerly breezes to do much?
-
More of a defect than UHI Im presuming they have absolutely zero snow, none, within 100 yards of the station?
-
Actual vs predicted and grade DCA: 15/12.5=C+ Camp Springs:7.5/:6 =A-. Annapolis:12/8=D. BWI:6/5=A. My backyard :5/4=A. iAD:4/1:C+ Frederick municipal:1/-0.5=A-. Frederick house -2/-2=A Happy with the predictions and it’s been a wild return to the 60’s and 1977, 1982, 1994, 2014

I had the warmest coast I got today and tonight and it worked, My regular was not doing it. This was benevolent because no 20-30 winds so was able to be out. Face knows it took a beating. 14.2 here at 10p. Still 80% 1-4” snow cover from full sun to full shade
-

-
The low was good but high +4 to +5 .
-
My predictions for overnight lows DCA.12.5. Camp Springs/Andrews 6. Annapolis :8. BWI: 5. My backyard :4. IAD: 1 Frederick Municipal Airport :1. Frederick house :-2

DCA disgraceful again as the MIC told me 20 years ago when we stopped communicating as much-“We work for the FAA. The FAA does not care if it’s 20 or 25. We don’t work for the NWS nor weather weenies”
-
Travels from Rockville to Frederick between 2-3pm provides the following i270-Temps between 19-21F. Got off onto Reichs Ford and temps ranged17-18. Arrived at the snow field surrounded house to 16F at 3pm

AI did well once and flopped once but at least it sticks to its design and doesn’t go from 8” to 1” every 6 hours. Let’s see how it fares this time -
House 2 miles se Frederuck in a field reported -1 for 90 minutes
