  1. 62 degrees and cloudy here. Radar shows rain not to far away. Not expecting rain here but it wouldn't hurt as we got only 1/10 of an inch over the past week.
  2. I kind a like this back and forth between hot and cool.
  3. Looks like the Newark to Teterboro zone is the hottest place in our area. Once again Newark leads the way.
  4. My highs the last 5 days are 90, 92, 86, 90 and 91.
  5. One of the warmest days I've had, 90.4 degrees. Wind out of the north instead of the south, probably a better chance of Tstorms here today than yesterday.
  6. So far a big .03 inch of rain here. Storm completely died as it came into Nassau.
  7. I think if they cut back the foliage, the CP temps would be slightly higher during the day and slightly cooler at night.
  8. This was in the western part of Staten Island, near 440.
  9. I was driving thru Staten Island on Friday afternoon. That was some thunderstorm, extreme rain, hail and strong winds. I drove thru it all.
  10. If you look at the high temps around the northeast that donsutherland1 listed a few posts up, you will see Newark was the hottest. This does not surprise me, they seem to be close to the hottest during most every heat wave. If anything, when you compare Central Park and Newark, it certainly shows how thermometer placement can make quite a difference.
  11. I think NYC Central Park is slightly distorted with summer daytime temps to low and Newark and LaGuardia slightly distorted with summer daytime temps to high.
  12. 1.89 inches of rain here between yesterday and today.
  13. Yea the rain from a few days ago I received only .11 but areas closer to Islip got almost a 1/2 inch.
  14. Starting to rain again here.
  15. 1.49 inches so far here and more on the way. 47 degrees with winds gusting over 30mph.
  16. About 40 minutes of mild thunder and lightning and ,02 of an inch of rain. The drought continues.
  17. Maybe if they cut back the foliage, it will increase some of those daytime temperatures and decrease some of the nighttime temperatures.
  18. Lee Goldberg mentioned the plant growth around Central Park recording station and how there is to much difference between Newark and Central Park.
  19. I don't remember them being named 20 years ago but I know for sure some of these storms they name now would never have been named years ago. It seems every year they are naming more and more storms that are not even close to tropical. If they want to include non tropical systems in with tropical systems, fine, however they should not make comparisons with years ago records. The next thing you know they will be including Nor"easters.
  20. As long as were on a discussion involving the NWS, does anyone know why the NHC now includes subtropical storms as named tropical storms?
  21. 89 degree high here for the second day in a row. 65 degrees for tomorrow and still not a drop of rain.
  22. If Central Park temperatures are a little to low in the day, it doesn't make up for the heat island affect at night. Another thing is the temperature readings at airports are in many cases surrounded by those hot tarmacs. I wonder if the open space of the airport lets the wind pick up that hot tarmac temperature and just make the entire airport temperature higher on those very hot sunny days.
  23. 89 my high. That with a decent amount of cloud cover
  24. Ana has been named near Bermuda it is barely a subtropical storm. If they want to now name subtropical storms that is fine, however, when they make comparison to years past, they should really have an asterisk.
