Norfolk CT up in the Litchfield Hills is even more impressive at over +1.0° above the previous warmest August. That’s a +5 departure for that location. You can see the warmest departure area of +5 extending into Dutchess County.
Time Series Summary for NORFOLK 2 SW, CT - Month of Aug

Camille is the one except that comes to mind. Pretty much held strength from the time it entered the gulf all the way to landfall
Camille is the strongest hurricane to hit the U.S. in my life time. Although all wind instruments were destroyed as the storm made landfall, it is estimated by NWS that winds were 170-175 mph. and gusts close to 200mph. as it made landfall.

I remember some news reports early the morning after Andrew hit. Some reports were saying it did not seem as bad as feared mainly because the reports were coming out of the Miami area. Then they made it south and to Homestead.
-
Looks like another storm and rain event for the north shore of Long Island, meanwhile central long Island and the south shore continue to miss most everything.
-
NHC only showing a slim chance for a disturbance in the eastern Atlantic.

.02 of an inch here so far.

I'm glad someone is getting the much needed rain. We have nothing and the radar at this point does not look to promising.

Philadelphia international airport is south of the more urbanized parts of Philly and it can get a cooler breeze since it’s right in one of the wider stretches of the Delaware River.

Only .04 inch of rain here. A pleasant 61 degrees this morning.
-
81 the high here and 58 the low. This has been some boring stretch of weather in my area.
-
64 comfortable degrees for a low this morning. Plenty of 50s inland and even some upper 40s in the coldest areas.

Humidity 70% here
-
87 my high but far less humid. In those colder areas inland, especially up toward the Catskills, would not be surprised to see some 40s for lows this weekend. Even though plenty of warm weather left, the first signs of the coming fall season will be this weekend. Nice change after a prolonged heat wave.

The area around Lake Superior has been the place to be for a cool summer this year.
that's incredible

It looks like a deluge over NW Nassau around the Great Neck Glen Cove area.
-
Picked up .30 inch of rain. Looks like it is holding together as it heads east and maybe building a little on the southern end

The seabreeze actually helps to fire storms on LI-it's a boundary that can force warm/moist air to rise as the cool air comes in from the ocean. Unfortunately it screws over the south shore since the boundary usually travels a few miles inland before firing storms, and it's been as dead as anything else for the last couple of weeks.
Yes I have seen those sea breeze boundaries give areas just to my north rain while I get nothing. I remember the same thing in Florida. It would be sunny at the beach and about 10 miles inland plenty of thunderstorms. However, today it is actually raining here and some thunder.
-
Maybe with no sea breeze we can get some storms on Long Island.
-
95 here today. Even a few drops of rain. No sea breeze

By the time it gets here, I will be happy to get a tenth of an inch. Anything more is a bonus.
