the problem with the Sunday into Monday storm, like the ones recently, it is coming from the west not south. That means it will be further north, probably at our lattitude and moving away. So we have to hope it intensifies quickly and moves slowly in order to get any snow, especially for coastal areas.

Peak gust here this afternoon is 43mph, numerous gusts in high 30s. The 83mph gust at Stoney Brook was on an anemometer that is 390 ft high.

Wind really picking up here, consistant gusts over 30 with a peak gust of 36mph.

Give it a little time and winds will ramp up
Yea I'm sure it won't be long

Spoke to soon, wind has just shifted to the wsw but still light.

Wind still south here and has really dropped off. Barometer 29.09
-
Wind more southerly now and picking up. Barometer down to 29.12

Correction on the amount of rain I have, it is now 1.79inches.

My wind has actually calmed down in the past 30 minutes. I think the storm is almost overhead. As it moves north and continues to intensify the winds will really crank out of the WNW.

Here in eastern Nassau County on Long Island. Wind ESE gusting to 34mph. Rain now .94 of an inch. Barometer has gone from 29.50 at 6PM to 29.16 now.

I noticed on the snowfall reports that NWS measurements were in general lower than those done by the public. I wonder if some of the public folks included what was on the ground from the Friday storm.

About 2.5 inches here, turned to rain about 1A.M. Briefly heavy before the change but for hours it was a light to moderate snow. The temperature never got below freezing.

Light to moderate snow here since it started, definitely no big thumping of snow here so far.
-
Sticking to all services here also but the temperature still above freezing.

Looking at live webcams in the Philly area, the precip has either lightened up or it is now rain.
-
light snow, very wet, 34.7degrees.

Light snow, no stickage yet but intense returns knocking on the door.
I fixed it.

Light rain here for the past hour and starting to mix with wet snow. 35.5 degrees, 31 dew point.
-
Dew point 23 here. I would guess dew points will be near 30 out here when precip starts.
-
Long Island will definitely need a heavy precip event so dynamic cooling can take place. Temperature here already hitting 40 degrees.

looks to me the 12z GFS shows a start time evening on Sunday ending midday on Monday.
Possible Dec 1-3 Winter Storm
in New York City Metro
Posted
Storm moving in from the west and developing off New Jersey coast, especially this time of year with mild water temps, not a good scenario for NYC metro and Long Island.
