Its borderline tropical at best. Impressive storm but absolutely nothing going on around the center.

I think Long Island will get on and off heavy tropical showers and potential storms with windy conditions. New Jersey not much wind with a more steady heavy rain.
New Jersey shore should be windy. I am wondering if those areas that received the heavy rains recently could have some flooding problems.

Strongest winds east of the center, Long Island and Ct.

They also name storms that are anemic or even sub-tropical. Years ago some probably would not have been named

Are you saying it has been named as a tropical storm?

If the storm goes west across NJ, still a big if, the severe outbreaks could be over Long Island and Ct.

Because it’s tropical. If this was a cold core system it would be on the NW side. Once it moves North it will shift to the North and NW of the track.
This is true in most cases, Hurricane Gloria and Bob both examples. This is not completely tropical at this point and the precip could be well north of the center and more directly above the center rather than completely west.

As of now all the heavy weather is well east of the center. Have to watch and see if this holds.

Received .33 inch of rain yesterday and just .01 today. first rain in over 2 weeks

Sudden pickup in the wind here out of the NE and the temperature has gone from 68 to62. Still raining.

44 degrees with graupel falling.

Hail, thunder and lightning here.

Unusual situation having storms maintain strength or even get stronger as they head east across the city and Long Island. Hear thunder to my west.

Just had another crack of thunder here. Storm is probably developing overhead. Goes to show you how much lift is out there despite the overcast conditions.
Can see the cell on radar, right near Mahwah and north over the NY border

As of now I have overcast skies and a strong wind off the water, not a good scenario for thunderstorm activity.
