Beautiful day at Tobay Beach today. Very comfortable with temps in the 70s to near 80. I will say, this is one long stretch of boring weather. I know it is boring when I was following last weeks rain like it was a snow event.

I got 1/2 my total from a heavy shower, last night, that I was on the southern fringe of. It looked like south of Hempstead Turnpike got nothing from that shower. Another recording station on weatherlink that is about 2 miles to my north is now up to 1.87 inches. They got twice as much as me from that one heavy shower.

I think you will end up with an inch or more. For your sake I hope I'm right.

Those heavy showers seem to be coming more numerous on Long Island, especially in Nassau

There were a couple of heavy showers that hit Nassau during the night in the East Meadow, Hicksville and parts of Levittown. Also up around Syosset over toward Huntington. I was on the southern end of one of them and picked up .61 so far. Meanwhile just a few miles away there has been very little rain.

I picked up .58 inch of rain from a small cell that was over my area and just to my north. Hicksville picked up about an inch and places just to there north and just to my south are still at close to 0 with rainfall from this event. I got lucky and was just on the southern fringe of that little heavy rain band.

I am hoping and believing, at this point, this will be one of the many instances where it takes seemingly forever for the precipitation to finally make it eastward enough to reach Long Island but when it finally does we get our fair share.

I think a prolonged period of rain will give Long Island over an inch of rain. Much needed.

Coming up the Wantagh Parkway this morning, remarkable how many trees, including evergreens, were brown and possibly dieing.

.08 inch of rain here last night.

I have so much confidence that my area will get little out of this, I went out and watered earlier tonight.
-
By the time it gets here, I will be happy to get a tenth of an inch. Anything more is a bonus.

Looks like mostly an extreme northeast event, At least in our part of the country

91 here today, 21st time this season with 90 or above.

Camille is the strongest hurricane to hit the U.S. in my life time. Although all wind instruments were destroyed as the storm made landfall, it is estimated by NWS that winds were 170-175 mph. and gusts close to 200mph. as it made landfall.

I remember some news reports early the morning after Andrew hit. Some reports were saying it did not seem as bad as feared mainly because the reports were coming out of the Miami area. Then they made it south and to Homestead.

Looks like another storm and rain event for the north shore of Long Island, meanwhile central long Island and the south shore continue to miss most everything.

NHC only showing a slim chance for a disturbance in the eastern Atlantic.

.02 of an inch here so far.

I'm glad someone is getting the much needed rain. We have nothing and the radar at this point does not look to promising.
