  1. It was an easy comparison to beat, at least January and February were more like winter.
  2. First 5 months of this year all chillier than last year, at Central Park, averaging some 3 degrees colder.
  3. In California for example, 95% start by people or people related scenarios.
  4. That is the thing, most fires are started by people or electrical wires. People now live in areas that were not inhabited in the past.

  17. Heat Island in full force last few mornings. 65 in the city this morning and closer to 50 in many suburbs, yesterday 50 in the city and 30s in the burbs.

  19. Even at that elevation, that is an incredible wind speed from a hurricane, this far north.
  20. Blue Hill had a sustained wind of 121mph and a gust of 186mph during the 1938 hurricane.
  21. The strongest wind recorded in NYC was from hurricane Hazel as it passed hundreds of miles to the west, 113mph.
