  1. There is no doubt the temps have warmed thru out the area, city and country. I am simply saying on night time lows on no wind nights, the city is much warmer and last night was one of those nights. The heat island does nothing but get worse with all the large buildings going up the past 10 years, it is getting hard to tell where Manhattan ends and Brooklyn and Queens begin. So much building in western areas of Queens and Brooklyn.
  2. Latest GFS seems to show temps in the 80s until a quick brief cool down around Wednesday. Best chance for 90 looks like Friday or possibly Thursday.
  3. Hit the 30s in parts of upstate NY. They can have it, to early for that.
  4. Crisp temperatures in the upper 50s here this morning. Far NW suburbs in the 40s.
  5. Temperatures already dropping into the upper 50s in central NY around the Catskills. I'm sure plenty of 40s tonight for those folks.
  6. NWS has temps approaching 90 starting Sunday and remaining in the upper 80s to around 90 thru mid next week, for the NYC area. Sounds ok to me, good pool weather.
  7. Looks like good sleeping weather tonight, may even be some 40s well north and west. Signs of things to come, of course it looks like some warm weather again next week.
  8. .34 of an inch of rain today and 2 inches in the past 4 days here.
  9. I think your call of not forecasting near 100 degree temperatures this far out, is smart. Climatology really makes 100 hard this time of year, even at the hot spots like LaGuardia and Newark. Average temperatures are already on the way down and by the end of August will be down some 3-4 degrees.
  10. Well congrats to the euro for at least giving some showers to the area. So far today here, rainy and cool.
  11. Ok so a day ago it was suppose to be mostly sunny today and now there is a tornado warning. Yea I think this time the forcast was way off.
  12. Unexpected rain here early this morning and more unexpected rain appears to be moving in.
  13. Yea I am in the yellow zone between East Meadow and Levittown.I had 3/4 of an inch but just to my north it was worse and just to my south not much.
  14. I have had a thunderstorm sitting over my area the past hour that has dropped 3/4 of an inch of rain. Meanwhile just a short distance to my south it looks like sunshine. Reminds me of my days in Florida.
  15. I have the same thing and I am 8 miles or so from the ocean. It could also be the wind dried out the leaves and now they are shriveling up and dropping.
  16. I think what made Isaias so bad was the consistent strong gusts for a few hours. I had numerous gusts close to 50 for a prolonged period. I saw that Freeport long Island had a sustained wind of 44mph. That is pretty impressive for a sustained.
  17. I had a 52mph in this storm and a 79 mph. In Sandy. I had 56 mph. In Irene. I had no anemometer during Gloria but the wind damage was similar to Sandy.
  18. Trees down throughout my area. Some roads impassable. In my area this was similar to Irene as far as wind goes. We had little rain, 1/10 of an inch. Really surprised how little it rained. Fortunately for those on the coast, it did not hit at high tide.
  19. Just in my immediate neighborhood, which is not a wooded area but typical suburban neighborhood, I have 9 uprooted trees and numerous large branches down. A couple streets impassable.
  20. Incredible winds the past hour more trees down, fence across the street blew down and landed between the cars, power in and out.
