  1. Caribou has a very long winter. To long for me. We were so over due for snow less seasons like the last 2. NYC Central Park actually averaged some 5-6 inches more snow the last 30 year climate period (1990-2020) as compared to the previous period of 1960-1990. The slightly milder temperatures seem to have given our area more precipitation and in the winter that can mean more snow.
  2. For the first time since early this morning, the wind has calmed down here.
  3. 1.04 inches of rain here. Davis weather station in Gilgo Beach and Long Beach (both south shore) reporting peak gusts of 61 and 59mph.
  4. Even here on Long Island some big differences between daytime high and nighttime low. Yesterday 78-42 and today 77-41. Temperature drops fast, already down to 64.
  5. Wind not bad here, only 24mph gust. Not really expecting the strongest winds until tomorrow. Tonight's wind reports appear to be mostly with frontal passage.
  6. Probably some kind of wind advisories will be issued for Monday. Should be an interesting day with snow showers also in the air.
  7. Monday looks like it could be an interesting day. Flurries or snow showers are possible along with potentially damaging wind gusts over 40mph.
  8. Both the Euro and GFS have a 965 millibar low just northeast of Maine early next week. That pressure is lower than many hurricanes.
  9. Nassau County was left out of the freeze warning by the NWS. I hope people that had outside plants didn't pay any attention.
  10. Not sure if this was mentioned but looking at snow totals, it looks like upstate Ct. and Massachusetts had a lot of places with 4-6 inches of snow.
  11. Even though Nassau County is not included in the NWS freeze warning area, it looks pretty likely that many parts of Nassau will have freezing temperatures tonight. Currently 41.8 here.
