  1. I hope whoever is at Schaeffer Farms right now has mud tires.
  2. Got a couple minutes of a gusty torrent at the peak. Certainly a needed storm.
  3. Not the wildest storm I’ve seen here, but gusty with at least a moderate downpour. Kinda like an appetizer storm.
  4. Finally getting a prime hit.
  5. The sky definitely has that active look to the west. Hearing some rumbles in the distance.
  6. Well...there's a chance imby. Doesn't look like a flush hit, but I might get clipped. As has been typical all season long...it'll be another TBD.
  7. Visited my cousin in Canton yesterday and looks like I missed a couple of imby cells. Looking at radar loops, I don't think I missed anything too dramatic, but it does look like upwards of 0.25" fell. Still waiting on a flush hit...hoping to capitalize on some of this heat.
  8. Just got to bmore, so obviously Frederick will now get a storm…and potentially a train of them lol.
  9. The actual storms to tracking ratio is about the same as it was in the winter…not ideal.
  10. Typical July summer day in the mid-Atlantic.
  11. That was a nice revenge goal lol.
  12. The USWNT has there work cut out for them against Netherlands
  13. Definitely dry up in the Watershed. Biked one of the trails up there today and where there’s sometimes a stream, there was no stream. It’s great for mtb, but pretty much that whole area could use water. What’s wild is that it’s been humid lately…we just aren’t getting a widespread system that can generate enough lift to overcome the issues we face in the valleys like downsloping, etc. I can only assume the primary issue is due to a persistent, multi-seasonal nw flow without much gulf interaction. I could be wrong, but I haven’t seen any reasons being brought up beyond that.
  14. Today has turned into a pretty classic, simple summer day. No smokey haze adds some bonus points. Not sure how I feel about the incoming heat wave, but I do like that there's at least a chance to see some storms.
  15. Well at least Earth is still tilted on its axis. We have that going for us...for now.
  16. Frederick’s storm shield did a fantastic job again today. Maybe the incoming heat wave will melt it and a new pattern will emerge.
  17. Some storms developing to the west. I’m prob too far north, but Moco has a chance.
  18. I don’t recall such a persistent lack of southerly component to the overall pattern. Seems like almost every system is acting like a clipper with the same general impacts as what we’d receive in the winter…hit/miss and showery east of the mountains instead of a clean region-wide hit. I know I’m generalizing as summer isn’t the time of year that we get a storm from the TN Valley and some areas have done well with precip lately, but even on radar the storms have typically been w/nw to e/se in their path.
  19. The atmosphere is ripe today. Sunny, stagnant and humid is my favorite recipe for storms. The rest is a “we shall see”.
  20. If it’s gonna storm, this is the type of airmass we need. Sun is mostly out now in Frederick with a healthy dewpoint.
  21. This summer has been total weak sauce as far as heat is concerned. I’m actually looking forward to the heat wave for the sake of interesting weather and increased CAPE. Also curious to see how it compares to the 110+ I experienced in Nevada. My guess is it will be more uncomfortable in the shade, but more comfortable in the sun (that 110 hits quick in that desert sun especially hiking in it when you have pretty much no escape).
  22. The sun is slowly starting to break through the mountain clouds here. Hopefully, that’s a trend and sets the table for at least some isolated storms west of 95 later.
  23. Looks like tomorrow will offer more potential for widespread storms, especially if we can get into some breaks of sun early on.
  24. Then I think this area needs a new dealer lol.
  25. It wouldn't surprise me. I'd like to see a good snowstorm or two, but the trend (for mostly obvious reasons) has been for us to pretty much need a perfect setup. Hopefully, the mountains can at least score a respectable winter.
