  1. There’s definitely a stormy feel in the air outside. Radar is looking intriguing right now.
  2. Got a pretty diesel bike ride in at gambrill (yellow poplar) so I’m ready for storms now. The trail was in good shape…not surprising since we’ve had a few days since the Thursday drencher.
  3. yea, like the last couple weeks leading up to ida it was almost the same airmass everyday...humid/stagnant and afternoon storms, at least close to the mason dixon line. i'm still annoyed that i didn't take vid of the derecho.
  4. true, we certainly would expect severe during a tropical storm running under us, but something about having that stagnant air mass that we score in. i'm mostly just basing it off experience without any science, which is why it'll probably fail lol. definitely agree with your point for today's example.
  5. i have this "farmer forecasting" theory that we don't usually do well with storms when we're having a breezy day leading up to it. it'll probably fail with a cold front pushing through later, but curious how we do this afternoon. hoping it does hold off because i want to get a trail ride in.
  6. Some of the damage vids from the nj tornado looks like an ef2 minimum.
  7. I didn’t even know that (new to living in the area). It’s definitely a mini lake right now, though.
  8. Baker park in Frederick has some legitimate flooding. I’m here right now. Carroll creek has had enough.
  9. another batch rolling in here. there will be 5"+ spots around this area when all is said and done, probably easily.
  10. seeing breaks in the clouds on satellite for that next round. still time for more instability to develop.
  11. i'm still a renter (top floor), but definitely feel for those with basements in this area right now. with that said, i need to buy a home at some point, so i can get a weather station. this would have been a fun day for that.
  12. downtown frederick is gonna need an ark soon. another batch moving through here.
  13. unsurprisingly, a ffw just issued for parts of frederick/carroll
  14. nasty little cell just moved through just southeast of gambrill state park. wind was legit for a minute or two. i'm assuming a little microburst embedded.
  15. absolute torrential downpour here, preceded by some breezy conditions.
  16. seeing lightning show up with the cells towards harpers ferry.
  17. yep, the soaker has begun here. can no longer see the catoctin's. kinda cool being able to watch the cloud deck lowering as the storms move in from the west. no lightning, though...just a steady downpour.
  18. Flash flooding could be a thing up here if that batch holds together.
  19. It appears Im about to get a torrential downpour. Skies darkening here. Been raining all morning.
  20. I can attest to this. Been a similar pattern with storms dropping in from Hagerstown almost everyday and unpredictable in duration/intensity.
  21. had to abort the yellow poplar trail at gambrill again. this time i got thoroughly drenched after being about halfway through and took the road back because i also underestimated how long it would take to finish lol. this everyday isolated storms/downpours thing is becoming a thing. that said, the trail was in pretty good shape, so maybe the ground can withstand what's coming up the next few days.
  22. I think that area will do better in fringe winter events. Growing up in southern Moco, sleet makes an early entrance at times while those areas towards Frederick/Washington counties (and even Germantown) might stay all snow. Prob would do better with clippers as well. Not sure how that area would do with lake effect stuff though…might need to be closer to Cumberland/frostburg.
  23. How did you like that area by the way compared to Hagerstown? (Figured I’d ask as I wait for the storm here lol). Some nice homes up there. I work remote and have been exploring the area.
  24. Yea so far I don’t like my decision. Was halfway through and heard rumbles, and radar looked healthy. Prob could have finished it. Maybe they’ll reorganize over the hills. Seeing some signs of that towards walkersville.
  25. Just commented on that. Tho looks pretty dark from my view over gambrill state park. These systems lately have often times just rained themselves out. Lack of shear I guess, though not sure.
