  1. Models fail at different points all the time for sure, especially when it matters to weenies such as us who debate over 2” vs 4”. Theyll never be perfect, especially when small distances matter significantly with a dry column, lack of uplift, subsidence, etc all over a mile or two at times. But that doesnt mean the models have failed, or that they didnt take into account certain conditions properly. its along the same lines as when people here complain that once a model has locked on a rainstorm, it never waivers. Complete nonsense. It wavers constantly, its just that sometimes the rain/snow line is in suffolk county, and we all watch the battle and waffling of the model runs….and sometimes the rain snow line is near buffalo. The model performance is identical, but because we are entrenched in the warm sector, 100 miles either way makes no difference, let alone 5 or 10 miles.
  2. At least theyre scoring some points. Who the hell wants to watch 2 teams run 3 feet and fall down. Fuk outta here.
  3. I sure hope the next versions of the models take in the atmospheric conditions so they dont print out 4” of snow when it wont happen because of a dry column….
  4. I dont understand the need to keep professing that small storms dont interest you. Ok? Then move on, why clog up the thread, this potential 1-3 is being discussed in this thread. Dont post if you dont want to discuss it.
  5. They woulda been a day early and deserved to get stuck in a blizzard?
  6. Imagine learning to multiquote instead of wasting that doing math in your head….
  7. We escaped unscathed this time. I love the differences in how the storms acted over such small distances because of things like the previous snow and such. What makes this hobby so interesting even when we arent getting the snow we want lol
  8. When i was in Glacier in July of 21 we hit 105 or 106 in west glacier or columbia falls. Its 136 degrees colder right now. Thats insane.
  9. I just drove west from tappan to montvale, the difference in a couple miles is kind of staggering. Tappan still had flooding issues, debris everywhere, flooded houses in sparkill and tappan. Montvale there arent branches down.
  10. That line developed just to your southwest, even parts of rockland only had 15-20 mph gusts but the southeastern section looks like 40s in poorly placed weather stations. harriman state park got crushed, water rescues at anthony wayne. finished with 3.2” here looks like.
  11. That was the most constant “heavy” winds here since Sandy, no exaggeration. Have had plenty of storms that produced, but that was hours of nonstop that peaked with that line. Half the major roads in the county are closed due to flooding. Couple trees down on houses, numerous water rescues.
