  1. WOW, heaviest rain all year I think! I have never seen the ‘extreme’ rain rate on the weather flow tempest. .7inches in about 20 minutes not too shabby…drought cancel! Especially after my .15 from Elsa!

    Winter 2021-22

There’s always a chance! I am only chasing Knickerbocker+ storms at this point. Given the crazy climate, it’s totally possible! I am content in what I have experienced in my lifetime, some epic Denver storms in the 80’s and early 90’s, epic DC nor’easters 2009-10 and 2016, 1993 in Atlanta, four feet in Yosemite during thanksgiving 2019…been a a good run. I appreciate whatever we get at this point! What I do not want to see is a cat 5 up the bay…cat 2/3 fine
  3. Me and my wife were talking about the sky today, definitely hazier compared to last week with same temps, but the sky this afternoon was still pretty blue. Growing up in ATL in the 80’s and 90’s you would never see blue sky in the summer, even here in the 2000’s the sky seemed hazier. Is it because the air is cleaner? Seems we don’t have nearly as many orange or even red air quality days now. Thought? Am I imagining things or is the air actually way cleaner.
  4. 97.0 here, but it was a “dry” heat…
  5. Happy 4th of July everyone! My plan for the day while smoking ribs then blowing sh!t up later…if you don’t know the story, Port City lost power during the derecho in 2012 and instead of tossing the lager they had brewing after they lost power they converted it to California Steam beer style ala Anchor Steam, one of my favorite, and original craft breweries in the US. Have a great day everyone!
  6. When was the last time we saw a tor warn for the district….
  7. Yep! 98-88 in about 1 hr 30. Amazing what a difference 10 degrees makes!
  8. Wtf! How is DCA 91?! I am at 98 with a HI of 114 and am closer to the river in a nicely wooded neighborhood. Calling BS!
  9. My Wife choose the wrong meet to be timer! My Mom and brother live in Portland, OR, they went to the pool at 10am and it was already 101…so at least we ain’t there!
  10. I feel your pain. Who was the idiot that scheduled an 8am work meeting with his team. Oh, that was me.
  11. At least it cooled down a bit with an outflow boundary…I will take my relief where I can get it!
  12. Well they should have gone for the extended warranty on that WSR-88d, maybe some one will give them a call about some options…
  13. What’s that radar retur zooming in from the east? Anti thunderstorm missiles?
  14. Oh my @vastateofmindyou just encapsulated my entire Monday’s from now until end of July! @H2O yes I am praying for storms, the damn swim team gave my son a cold who then passed it to me…93 with a box of tissues at the pool without adult beverages because I took Tylenol cold seems like just another kick in the head that I can’t deal with right now…One brilliant thing about COVID is that our pool makes spectators sit outside the pool area, a definite grayer area for beverage consumption, though in our neighborhood you are an outlier if you do not have said beverages!
  15. Red solo cups scream that I am drinking adult beverages…you gotta us a yeti tumbler, you can almost fit an entire bottle of wine in that thing….or 4 beers!
  16. Being DC, I bet this whole event will be a lemon…
  17. Someone should do a study on the differences between grapefruit and softball sized hail…just sayin.
  18. Haven’t been paying attention for a while, because why, is this the back door cold front mentioned from earlier this week?
  19. It’s delightful, after hitting 90, now 78!
  20. What was that? Sea breeze blowing through, east to west? Was a delightful refreshment, temp dropped about 5 degrees in 20 minutes.
  21. First kill for ole Thunder. One cicada down, billions to go...
  22. Picked a fine day to go to a winery, 55 rain and hail here near Purcelville! About to get pummeled...but at least wine!
  23. I got it for Christmas and so far it’s been working pretty well. Performance seems about as good as my old Davis Vantage pro 2 so far, that lasted 15 years though. I have a terrible sighting problem, surrounded by large trees and houses, so wind readings aren’t great. Was leary about the haptic rain sensor, but seems pretty good now compared to surrounding stations, they use some sort of AI to smooth out errors. Couple of cool features, the UV sensor and lightening detector are cool, not sure how accurate they are but interesting to have. For the cost, seems like a lot of bang for the buck. Just have to see how long it lasts. Also setup is a breeze!
