Well, they canceled the basketball games for tomorrow. We better get at least 2 inches out of this.

Driving back to NC from western KY on Sunday. Was already going to take the southern route (I-40) to avoid WV mountains but there seems to be a lot to fall in the Pisgah Gap. Worth going through Chattanooga and into Georgia and then I-85 to avoid or should Sunday be OK?
Man, what does that add like 4 hours to your trip?

It all depends on how the ridge axis setups out west. Definitely a risk of this being too far west.

Looks like a temporary break from the cold for a few days. But after that cutter it gets cold again.

Ik it’s a different setup but wasn’t March 2009 just a backside Deform Band?

It is looking like a brief deform band event as the low begins to crank and pulls away. DC weenies won't like this one very much. Looks like a nice hit in SE Mass. It is a shame we can't pull a big one from this but it's better than nothing I suppose.
Misses a lot of New England. Long toaster sales

The main diff b/n the euro and gfs is the EURO phases the northern stream impulse with the stj impulse over Texas below. If you see the GFS start trend towards a solution where that s/w is being phased into the northern trough then you know it's caving towards the EURO. Will be interesting to watch.
Gfs struggles in these situations.

I've lived in Cashiers and Glenville for the last 35 years and I can't remember a single time there were back-to-back weekends with big dog snowstorms. Has my memory just completely failed or is this truly anomalous?

09/10 we had several. 10/11 was great for the first half. I'm sure we had some back in the 80's and 90's too.

I’m with you, I wish I would’ve got the big totals some of the others got, but it just didn’t work out. But hey after the torch of December we had any Snow was a win in my book! The max at one time here on the ground is right now which is about 3”. I don’t understand why there so upset we look to be entering a epic pattern.

Maybe an hour or two. Plenty of moisture to roll through overnight!

Lots of qpf falls before the warm nose comes in briefly. Then it's gone and the wrap around band works through with Temps in the 20's. I'll take it!
