Should be a good run for the mtns

Looks stronger and more consolidated compared to 6z. At hour 90 heights are a little higher across the SE.

Yeah I went from 24 to 40 degrees in about 6 hours...
Same. When I went to bed last night it was 28, when I got up at 5 it was 40, then 50 by 10am.

I'm not sure if it's just harder to get a pattern that historically produces snow here in the past, if those patterns just don't produce snow like they used to, or the historically great patterns show up on the medium to long range on the models but then change and never happen down the road. Maybe it's all three. Former local met Greg Fishel said the air off the ocean makes it harder for my area to get snow compared to further west in NC. I wonder if the warming of the oceans is making that more and more of a factor in limiting snow here.
Dude. Your area averages about 6" a year. You just remember the good years and not the bad one's. I remember several in the 90's and even 80's that sucked In the mtns.

Visiting up in Jackson County for this storm, 5200 feet near waterrock knob. Not familiar with the mountain patterns up here. Worried a bit on the speed of the system, as it's out of here early tomorrow morning. With the need to drop the Temps, cool the ground, no real nw flow event to speak of, I don't see how my back yard gets much higher than 4-5 inches. Don't see very high amounts up here other than the border peaks but could be wrong I guess.
You're I'm a good spot. Should see 6+

GSP latest map and grid forecast shows Asheville at less than an inch. I never understand what has them forecasting way less than every single model. But they are the experts and are right more than they are not.
They're the same ones that issue advisorys and warnings after snow is already falling.

Doesn't close off at 36hr and by 42 it's positive tilted trough. No good. Makes the system weak and warm

Ensembles don't look great for winter weather in the SE but they're definitely not showing grass growing weather anymore

That's awesome! Yeah you get 4 seasons and the cost of living is low. I'm looking to buy a place up there and use it as an. Airbnb

Cost of living much cheaper all around and yes, plenty of snow especially if you're coming from the south. Winter lingers well into April and sometimes May and that can be a rough stretch after 6 months of snow otg.
70 inches of snow here season to date with a peak depth so far of 27".
That sounds awesome! What town do you live in?
