This is what the landscapes looks like this morning after what survived the rain last night and the fresh coating earlier.

Wintry morning. Picked up an additional half inch and still snowing.

Euro is a 4-8 inch storm Starting late Friday night through Saturday morning. Cold storm like last night's run.

It's over now. I thought it was 4 but when I tried measure I came up with closer to 3. Probably have to go with 3.5 but will wait to see spotter reports.

Still all snow. It's really been heavy. Windy. Looks like a solid 4 inches.

Moderate snow becoming heavy. 1.5 or so. Getting breezy. 21.

Already did. Steady light snow within minutes of first flakes.

A big storm is suspect with the general upper level pattern. It can happen but only when hitting on all cylinders (like Feb 2014). Euro/cmc have shown a path but there's no way they could lock into that this far out in a progressive patten. I know you know this up and down. But there are still plentiful peeps here who expect ops to lock into any and every big storm from a week out. 

It can easily snow next weekend but prob not the way the euro/cmc are showing. Any shortwave passing 1-2 days or more after a front can be something... or nothing.... 

Still feel pretty strongly that any event thru this month will be modest if we get another. Like 6-10" tops or something like that but 3-6/4-8 type totals fit the upper levels from what I see. 

Agree with you about big storm potential but who knows. If we're lucky enough to get 1 or 2 of these to hit they scream moderate events which is fine. They certainly would favor very cold storms. This was an impressively cold Euro run.

I think it's time to retire the Congrats too. Enough already with it. Every other post when a bad model run comes out.

CMC had it snow 1 to 3 inches DC metro south and still showed a major storm for us.  Euro actually had no snow (actually light rain) and had the monster storm... so I'm not sure it will matter... but I'll let someone more knowledgeable speak up on it

There have been quite a few moderate and big storms that were preceeded by a small event just prior or within 48 hours of the "main event"

2003,2004,2016 just to name a few.

Should be an amazing week of tracking, though. Admittedly I’m already feeling burnt out, and with my last semester of college starting up, I might need to work to regain some of this lost sleep, haha. Or I’ll lose even more, given it’s my last semester of college and I’ve got a post-grad job so I’ll be living it up.

I have good feeling we'll be tracking something the following week too so buckle up! We may be in business right through early February.

Don't sleep on the little Thursday system. Could be a nice appetizer if the stars align. 

Going to be a lot of frozen ponds and lakes by months end if this advertised cold delivers.
