Quite frankly I think a short mental break from tracking might not be a bad thing. Just think about the last month or so...a LOT of tracking. Joy the first week, but a lot of angst from coming up just short the rest of the month. Time for a reset (mentally and hopefully for renewed snow chances this month).
We get 8 months every year for a mental break. Sure when things are active it gets exhausting but I'll take that any winter I can get it. Give me one threat after another. I want 2014 every year. Not too mention punting a 10 day period in early February during peak climo is awful.

dang i guess the cold air went on a diet and isn't falling like a fat rock anymore. I wasn't necessarily thrilled with any ice prospects but i did think the huge temp drop would have been fun. Oh well....upper 50's to lower 50's it is....not quite as exciting but at least my sidewalks will get cleaned
And my car needs a rinse!

Washington Commanders. What a joke. We suck at snow and we suck at naming football teams.
2 years to come up with that.

The gfs is actually a little colder along the M/D during the day on Friday compared to 18z.
Low 20's at 1pm and transitioning to snow after alot of ice. Would be pretty rough travel in Northern MD Friday afternoon and night.
30 degrees freezing rain is one thing. 23 degrees freezing rain is another.
Then has us staying in the teens to around 20 for the high Saturday after a morning low of 10.

GFS has me at 3 degrees Sunday morning as the clouds increase while I await my 6-8 snowstorm. Gotta love it.

This has a better chance to turn into something than last week's "west trend" that tortured us.

Is there a form I can complete to opt out of ice storms?
Yes. See Phineas for instructions!

Looks like the climo stations will end up in the -2 to -3 range for January. That is somewhat muted because of the extremely high temps of Jan 1&2.

The first 2 days definitely hurt and of course the dreaded midnight highs that occurred several times. There were 2 other days that ended up much warmer than projected one of the being last week the day before the front when BWI recorded 49 for the high.

The Euro did show a nasty winter storm 2 days ago so it's not like this is impossible and other models go to some version of this.

Talk about a low level cold air push. Northern tier goes below freezing a few hours before 6z friday. If there's any set up than can produce severe icing it's this one. We'll see.

CMC, ICON and GFS want nothing to do with making this a threat. Nam and RGEM seem poised to follow at the end of their runs. My hunch is that Euro and Ukie lose it today or tomorrow at the latest.

Solid analysis by the both of you. We're lucky to have you!!

Took one more look outside and was surprised to see it was still snowing. Steady light snow getting whipped around as the winds pick up. Pretty good flake size too. Should finish with at least an inch from tonight's snow after picking up 1 inch this morning. Going on 20 straight hours of snow falling for a total of 2 inches.

Very light snow continues. 18 consecutive hours.

Radar says no snow, but we've got almost 0.5" in Reisterstown with SN-.
Same here. Still very light snow. Picked up an inch this morning. That melted and now have a new half inch or so.

Even though the snow has been extremely light at times or even just flurries it has never stopped completely since the first flakes sometime around 5 a.m.

Snowing nicely again. Starting to stick again. Sun not poking through anymore. 32.

my snow mist has become actual snowflakes again. I'm hoping it snows like this off/on all day regardless of how much actually accumulates.
We're back to a steady light snow. Never shut off completely but did become just scatrered flurries. Most of the earlier stuff has melted but no big deal. I'll take a Cloudy cold day with light snow anytime especially on my birthday no less.
