2/13 Significant/Major Winter Storm Discussion & Observations
hooralph replied to Northof78's topic in New York City Metro
It was not an overnight event. Destroyed the evening commute. Started at 2, peak was 4-6 PM. So heaviest was during dark, but just after. https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/us/ny/new-york-city/KNYC/date/2018-11-15 -

Not to beat this horse to a second death, but here’s Amsterdam Ave on 11/15/2018. I checked the dailies for the month and the days prior were in 40s and 50s. We hadn’t had a freeze yet in 2018. Heat island, yes. It’s not the surface of the sun. -

Thanks. Was hoping not to have to pull day by day, but works to get a week or so.

Forgive the off topic question (but since this where folks are...) Does anyone know where you can get historic hourly data for a station? In this case, Central Park. Honestly would only want the past month or so, but will take more if available.

That video lays out why '78 is and will remain the GOAT. It's like debating Jordan vs. LeBron.

I rode my scooter home down the West Side highway from Battery Park in a very light rain. My wife thought I was nuts, but it was 10x than trying to navigate the subway. The bike paths there fortunately drain very well - almost no standing water.

I have a feeling Riverside Park is going to lose some big trees today. Been saying that for two years. There's lots of erosion. Huge old trees on slopes. They randomly fall on sunny days.
