  1. This would have to be some kind of record for late development down there, no?
  2. I’ve never had that experience thank God but I guess over the years there have been sightings in the Berkshires (supposedly) among others.
  3. Avoid Australia. They have a species called the Huntsman and it’s as big as a humans fist. Not venomous to humans thank GOD but even to see one up close would put almost anyone into a panic. About 25 years ago I saw one up close on the wall of someone’s bedroom waking up one morning and I still get the hebee jeebies remembering it
  4. I’ve definitely heard of black widow sightings all the way into MA but they still seem to be rare. I guess one good thing about them is that they’re not an aggressive spider and most times their bites are dry as they like to conserve their venom for their prey. But since we know you don’t want to get that close in the first place it’s a moot point. And to be perfectly honest I don’t want to live with any either
  5. My friend found a wolf spider in her house this morning and she was ready to torch the whole place just to get rid of it
  6. I got a text from a company called “Storm Watch Plus” advising me they have a sale for 20% off “..so you can prepare for future storms” When will that (the storms) be I wonder? Late 2028?
  7. Yup I think they’re going to luck out this time. “May fortune favors the foolish” I guess?
  8. I have a bad feeling they’re going to be up for a Darwin Award when this is done.
  9. Ugggh..Didn’t want to hear that. They just flat out refuse to go. It’s inexplicable
  10. I actually had a lightning strike alert from a storm about 11 miles away at around 3am
  11. I have friends in Punta Gorda who stubbornly refuse to evacuate. I really hope they avoid the worst of this. Right on the water in a two story apartment building
  12. No frost overnight tomorrow here at least.
  13. I believe I read somewhere that tropical birds were found as far north as CT/MA when the ‘38 hurricane ran up the coast
  14. It’s hard to imagine this is going to weaken all the way to a 3 before it hits the coast but I guess that’s the hope currently
  15. Retired and given a generous pension
  16. I think this summer has changed my mindset about wanting to relocate down to the west coast of Florida when I finally get to retire. Not just because of these hurricanes but a lot of it is. Hurricane insurance is apparently so cost prohibitive that people are going without it.
  17. Hopefully (maybe?) if it’s intensity is peaking right now, it’ll slowly begin to weaken well before coastal impact
  18. A little further south would bring it into Ft Myers which was leveled just a couple of years ago
  19. Is this expected to track up the coast in a diminished form like the examples above?
  20. “that these times will pass, and the challenges to solve will still be there” “This horror will grow milde, this darkness light.”
  21. But at least there you can get some quality Mexican food
  22. Oh God this is so boring…..Is it too early for Wiz to start his May 1st thread?
  23. I wonder how this compares to the infamous hurricane Camille flooding in the same general area in ‘69?
