  1. The subsidence zone will always be the border of Middlesex and Union counties, right around Colonia/Rahway. Book it. Seen it so many times people think I'm lying; have had 3 inches when New Brunswick had a foot...
  2. With my youngest starting a new job next week and having to drive on 287 I will be content to see every one of these events miss. New job said they only close for extreme weather....which in a lot of workplaces means only if the state orders nonessential workers to stay home....dear old dad would be pressed into service with the SUV, and I'd rather be doing something else......perspective does change over time...
  3. Are a lot of kids bussed? that matters. Bus slides, kids get hurt, driver gets hurt, district is gonna pay. 31 years in public schools here. Parents bring lawyers to schools now. That is no bullshit. Sat across from them a lot.
  4. If even one kid slips on a school sidewalk, the town is gonna pay. ALL the walkways have to be cleared; crews will be up way before school starts to do that. Same goes for the staff; they slip in the parking lot, the district is gonna pay. Days can be made up in the spring.
  5. We are well beyond "could be."
  6. I'm sure there's a 25 year old Rutgers grad who can do it....wait a sec....
  7. Why not. Could be warm enough soon.
  8. Any thoughts on the crisis at NOAA and how this will affect forecasts?
  9. it does indeed. many thanks.
  10. Indeed, we had an impressive blizzard in Jan, dumped a ton of snow on Cape Cod and a foot or more elsewhere in the region. The good ole days.....
  11. I'm actually loving this recent warmup. It's been so cold my skin is like sandpaper and my sump pump is still frozen, probably will be till June. This morning's walk was nice. Felt springlike.
  12. The immediate suburbs usually turn pretty quickly too. Rather sleet than slop, but nothing to be done about it. If it ain't a decent snow my only other concern is my loved ones who have to drive; sleet is deceptive.
  13. Feb 6…. Not a lucky day in these parts. Strange, my daughter brought home a friend she hadn’t seen since 2/7/10 when they were little kids and we drove to the Camden aquarium to see the drifts, I mean , the fish….he is 22 now.
  14. I've seen 4 washed away if it rained steady enough. But I'll take anything this year. Snow to rain, sleet, you name it. Course I don't want my daughter driving to work in it.....
  15. Well my sump pump pipe has still not thawed out.
  16. I don't put much stock in this kind of stuff, but if its going to happen, Feb is the time for it, generally speaking.
  17. Never saw a flake; just some light sleet. And that's when I learned that for my area, never expect a big one in March. Hasn't happened in my liftetime; however, you can get decent storms of 6-10 inches. Which is about the most this old guy can handle anyway. My friend just drove out to MI; there was a lot of snow cover through OH.
  18. Wonder if all the salt dust affects people's breathing or asthma/COPD.
