  1. Had another one skirt just to the South of me about 25 min later. Caught the North edge of it and got more thunder and lightning a some more rain. Pretty tame compared to that earlier one. For such a small cell it was more intense than some of the lines that have come through here. Got .41” from the two, .30” was just from the first one.
  2. Wow this thing is whopping a punch The wind is crazy. Lot of lightning before then when the cell hit the wind driven rain was loud. Our bedroom faces west so got the brunt of it.
  3. When we lived in Los Angeles for a couple of years we got introduced to June gloom. Happens when the marine layer pushes in and does not burn off.
  4. The weekend patterns have been yuck for sports. The younger Ms J was supposed to have a horse show all weekend. It was postponed for the safety of the horses and riders. They show in rain but not pouring rain that would slick up the footing.
  5. Thanks for this. We both have current passports and are looking to travel. And Mr. J is toying around with early retirement. Got to get through college tuition first though.
  6. Today ends our families time in K-12 education. The youngest Miss J. was dropped off for the last day of school for Seniors here in Frederick Co. The front entrance was pranked out and she informed us that there was a beach party in Main Street, what they call their main hall, with a giant sand box. This fall our house will be an empty nest. The oldest Ms. J will be jetting off to study abroad in the Czech Republic for film school. And the youngest Miss J. will be off to college. She is Autistic so we will defiantly be there for her, but she has grown so much since getting her diagnosis that I am finding myself confident that she will do well. For those here with younger kiddos they don't lie when they say it goes fast. Elementary school for us went the slowest, but once the upper grades hit time will fly. Next week is graduation and it will officially be all over. And Mr. J and I have realized that we have raised two pretty amazing kids. We don't look at it as the end of an era, we are looking forward to see where they go! Oh and of course we decided that we need to "pick up" the overseas kiddo because Prague in December with Christmas markets just happens to be a place we want to visit.
  7. Getting hit by that line. Some solid Pea sized hail hitting the window. Lightning and constant thunder.
  8. A a cell pop up right over me just now. 0.09”.
  9. Cracked my window open for this one. Got .38” and some decent thunder and lightning on the back edge.
  10. Nice storm rolling through here.
  11. It is a big decision. This will be my kids second time abroad. She was in England last Spring. As it was her freshman spring semester it was a more guided experience. This time she will actually be taking classes for her major. The idea of attending one of Europes oldest film schools and get hands on experience and connections is what really drew her to her program. It also involves a 20hr language intensive the first week. The best part about going abroad is if you don’t go one semester there are more chances.
  12. Well it is official. Oldest Ms J let us know that she will be studying in Prague in the fall. As part of the AU Abroad program she will be attending one of the oldest film schools in Europe. And the rest of the family has decided that we will all go and pick her up in December. I have always wanted to see the Christmas Markets. And as her program end date is December 19th we are heading over for the Holidays.
  13. Woke up to quite the light show from that one. Think it was around 3/4 am. I had a hunch that stuff up in PA last night might push south so we hauled the catio in before we went up last night. Glad I was correct as hauling that thing in that early in the am would not have been fun.
  14. Just lost power at my house. Did not even try to reset.
  15. .47 from this morning. Was sitting in the HS parking lot for pick up and the car was shaking from the gusts. The clouds have opened up and we have sun now.
  16. Amazing! I got to see the one back in 1984 when I was in school. Cool that I got to see another. My AU kid got out of class and she said the entire quad was full of students watching .
  17. Ok this is cool! Kid in DC who has a class right now just told me their “snack break” is at the fullest point. Huge viewing happening down on their quad.
  18. Holy crap! Whole house just shook from this storm. Woke Mr. J up and the cat jumped off the bed.
  19. .83 for the day. 2.54 for the event so far.
  20. Just started raining over here again.
  21. So the older Ms. J is in a scriptwriting class this semester. The next assignment is to write 3 pitches for PSA's. She was going to do Spay and Neuter your pets, but changed to Weather PSA's. We got into the discussion about how the NWS has changed up their wording recently so that the public takes it seriously. Will be interesting to see what she comes up with.
  22. If this verifies my kid at AU will be geeking out!
  23. My station has the event at 2.46 with .75 since midnight. Drove across the Monocacy River and it is well out of its banks. Ballenger Creek is behind my house and observed it from the 3rd story well out of its banks.
