I think that since most of the area is not part of the concrete jungle it would be more appropriate in a less urban area away from the only major river in the area. To me using MDT is no different than using THV. The extreme THV lows do not represent reality either. If MDT had gotten down to 54 or 55, I would be less inclined to say anything but 57 was not reality IMO. Totally understand the clouds last night on a one-time issue. IN closing (LOL) I will summarize that the temp at MDT was higher than any temp reported here or other official stations so not a median per se.

My feeling on it is that a large majority of the area got into the 40's or low 50's...even Canderson made it. This is not a onetime occurrence; they misrepresent the area as a whole weekly. Their temp is the basis for average temps over here, North of Pillow, etc. The frequent highest temp/near highest in the area should not be our official temp for record keeping. Mui had 51, LNS had 54...hard to find many if any temps that stayed at 57 last night.

The legend of MDT lives on.....57 was their low. So inappropriate that they are the official spot for the entire area. They now stand -1.1 for the month with another 2-3 BN days on tap.

If my search is outputting the right info, MDT has not a record low since April 30, 2022 when it hit 35.

Gotcha, yes he is very defensive. With the way the last couple decades have gone (though last Aug was not too shabby) this is great!

If he is suggesting this used to happen more often, he is right. The HDD stat I posted this AM backs it. MDT number of days with HDD in August:

MDT did snag their first double digit BN day since April (yesterday.) Another one on tap today as they may push their full month anomaly to 1 or even lower today. They also earned their first heating degree days (HDD) since May and first August with an HDD since 2017. It used to be rare that MDT did not get at least one HDD in August but has changed since 2009 when they have only had 3 such months.

44 here this AM. As for MDT, they are who we thought they were. 54 or 55.

True but the south central inner cities are talked about more for some reason. The gang issues in York were in papers in Florida.

Harrisburg, York and Lancaster are famous even down in Florida. Surprised to see Pitt on there.

Looks like MDT has scratched and clawed its way up to 70. A double-digit BN day seems like it is possible for today (right on the cusp right now but if Hrrr is right, MDT will get below the current low before midnight) and likely tomorrow. The last day MDT had a double-digit BN departure was April 21st if I looked correctly.
