  1. And the windows in this new addition are 3-4K each. They are big boys.
  2. Totally agree and the money here is a HUGE amount. Would easily eclipse 75K to get all new windows through out.
  3. It would be tough for many changes up there now. It is a newspapery mess! In theory since the attic is now sealed as to entry points in the ceiling, I wonder if my weak spots are more my windows. We also have an addition on the house which is full of windows all around, similar to an all season room, and it gets really warm back there on sunny days.
  4. We have this convo 2-3 times a year. Some people keep their house in the mid to upper 60's all year, others warmer. The 60's people are running their AC much of the year. I fall in between myself. 60's at night, 71ish at day. 78 out is going to force my AC to come on in January. @mitchnick is probably right in that something is not right with my setup but the house is old so I try the best I can. The fact that it only got down to 63 despite being 33 outside suggests it is holding heat fairly well. But hard to maintain 71 when 75-80 out.
  5. To me, it does not really matter what month it is, if it is 80 out I am putting the AC on. I can feel ITT coming for this post as well. LOL.
  6. At this point we will be ACing well into Nov. Some transient cold shots in between the heat on the MR models but not as cold as this last week. As much as I love that my house stayed in the low to mid 60's, it will heat up fast when it is 75-80 out.
  7. I did NOT turn the heat on during the cold snap. Got down to 63 in the house. A little chilly but worth the savings :-)
  8. I bet Stars Wars fans are not happy that Captain Kirk has a town named after him.
  9. Rgem still casting shade at chances of putting the potted plants back out until Sunday. Lows below freezing for much of the LSV the next 2 mornings. I more trust the RGEM with its spring radiational predicts so this will be a bit of a test in that most other mesos are 5-10 higher. Rgem correctly predicted most of MDT and south would get no where near freezing last night.
  10. @Mount Joy Snowman they almost made it, good call. this may be the lowest it goes for the month. Their low today is is only 2 below average and I suspect their high may come close to or equate that in the An range. Unfortunately the temps over the next week are probably going to slap the snot out of the averages.
  11. 39 this AM. MDT got stuck at 44 or 45. (Actually made 43 just after midnight)
  12. Might want to add an 80 for a day or two? We shall see.
  13. My Maples are 90% on the ground now. The wind this week pushed it over the threshold.
  14. Up to 62 here. First time this week we are above 53 since Monday AM. Going to chop up some leaves this afternoon.
  15. I did not realize it, but the NWS makes official calls on the growing season question. Here are the counties where the growing season has ended as of this Am. It does not always apply to everyone in the county, case in point here in Far Southern Franklin where the lowest we have had is 34. Growing season does not end for me until it gets to 28. Some places go by first and last frost and others use 28 as the divider.
  16. TCC is on the Curious Case of the BWI Cold. I agree, there have been some dubious readings there. Good catch showing the sensor showing it dropped 2 degrees below the hourly DP though the 5 min reading DP does show it matching the temp.
  17. Consistency is the word of the week with that. Another 60's days for CXY seems on tap...maybe even MDT this time?
  18. That is their record max low for the day. Record min high is 45.
  19. In the MA board I saw a post using THV's number as validation for BWI. That is world ending stuff right there! Also... https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/16/climate/global-water-cycle-off-balance-food-production/index.html
  20. I was wondering if you would notice that both 01's made the list right beside each other! So, what did they do at BWI to turn into the new THV?
  21. Interesting stat to look up for MDT. Left chart is Met fall, and right chart is Oct.
