  1. It's approaching 3pm on a sunny August 31st and my AC unit hasn't kicked on today. That's hard to beat. It was 57 this morning and it's 74.8 right now.
  2. It wasn't out to the finish when I had posted that. I think it was at 222 or so. Either way, I'd feel comfortable betting my house that we aren't seeing 110+ in the forum area.
  3. The GFS has backed down some on it's extreme heat, not surprisingly. It's still well AN though. The Euro also has some pretty good warmth. The Canadian is more content to throw out upper 80s/around 90ish temperatures vs the mid to upper 90s the other two are tossing out. At least the 103-106 degree stuff disappeared.
  4. 75 for the high today. Looks like we will close out August in the 70s imby. I was 79 Sunday, 73 Monday. Rare to see a Sunday-Thursday to close August with highs in the 70s.
  5. I meant 8am in that post. It rained some overnight here. We had around 2 inches since yesterday morning here. It's crazy that your area is in a micro drought almost. I've noticed it's just about a county in size on the drought monitor.
  6. Still coming down pretty hard here. Been steady moderate to heavyish rain since around 8pm, and it's still loaded up to my SW with virtually no movement other than training/re-developing from Crossville up to my area.
  7. The Euro looks like it has 2-3 days of upper 80s to lower 90s, with maybe some mid 90s for Memphis. Much better than the GFS and it's 100-105 degree stuff. The Euro looks to have 3 or so days of the heat and then it breaks down a bit.
  8. All mid to long term discussion is in met fall at this point. This should carry us until Nov 20th or so, when December/winter starts showing up on models. Blah weather to begin fall, if the GFS is correct. Lingering heat that clings on like an unwelcome in-law on it. If the GFS is being it's normal, likely ridiculous self, we may be lucky. The Canadian says "what heat?" over the next 10 days.
  9. About an inch and a quarter of rain this morning and looks like a good bit more in the pipeline. Thunder and heavy rain moving overhead right now. This should continue to help blunt the heat. My uncle, just East of Dallas in Hunt Co, hasn't had rain in over a month and has only had 3 or 4 days in August under 100f.
  10. Impressive rains this morning. I think part of the reason we don't get as hot as the GFS throws out is that we aren't in a drought of any kind.
  11. Didn't get out of the 70s yesterday, probably won't today and have some likely mid-50s or lower coming for Thursday morning. Can't really close out met summer any better imo.
  12. Looks like 83 is gonna be my high today. Been several cloudy periods. Last night's wind and rain made for an interesting halftime show for our band.
  13. With the things it's been throwing out, you can safely shave 5 to 10 degrees off the highs it tosses out when it starts those 105+ degree readings.
  14. It's dripping humid but nothing like the non-Plateau/Mountain folk are having to deal with. My brother in Hixson said it was 99 at his house a couple hours ago.
  15. Peaked at 88.5 and am now 86.5. No 90 summer achieved, barring something odd happening tomorrow.
  16. Temp has made it back to 84.5 here after the rain moved out, as 4pm approaches. If by some miracle we can get a well timed shower tomorrow, the 90-free summer will be accomplished. No guarantee we can get a 90-free fall though.
  17. It's currently raining here. Temp had made it to 84, it's down to 82 now. Gonna be a brief shower but it's pouring.
  18. Hit 87 today. I feel like Friday is almost guaranteed to be 90+ but I'm holding out hope for a summer sweep. The GFS was 10-20 degrees too warm across the region a few days ago. It tends to go way to extreme with cold and heat since the last upgrade.
  19. 2:30 and I've only reached 84 degrees. We will see where it gets to this afternoon, but this is looking like another toothless heatwave for mby. It may still get hotter Wednesday-Friday but three warm/hot days isn't nearly as bad as the GFS was looking a few days ago. As Carver noted, the extended at this point is met fall.
  20. Thought today might be the day, but capped out at 85.2. Clouds rolled in around 2:30 and it was mostly cloudy all afternoon into evening.
  21. My no 90s streak will probably end next week. The euro is much more believable than the GFS. It throws out a max of 93 for me. The GFS had 99 one day. Oddly, the GFS had me at 84 one day while Nashville was 109. It didn't even have a storm over my area at the time.
  22. The GFS has gone bonkers or most of the Southeast is going to set all time record high temps. It's throwing out nearly 120 degrees in Mississippi. 113 in Memphis near the Miss border, 110 in Nashville. 114 in Indiana. 114 in Illinois. It's done this often for the last couple of years and it's never remotely close to verifying.
  23. Looks like summer misery will arrive just in time for football season. Dry and hot couple of weeks inbound. Hopefully the pattern breaks down towards day 10.
  24. A friend of mine dropped her daughter off at ETSU a few hours ago and got caught in that storm on her way home.
