That's not far off from a nice hit. Temps aren't great.Nice little Warning level storm for January 3rd and 4th on the 12Z Euro. That's 3 opportunities to see at least flurries over the next 7 days.- 1

Up to 5.55" and still coming down. Watauga is the highest I've seen it in a long time and Linville hit 6ft today. Impressive.

Already an inch and a half of rain with plenty more to go the next couple days. This should put an end to the local drought.

GFS and Euro both have an extended NWF event mid/late next week. Been fairly consistent on it as well.

Yeah I always struggle when it's below freezing. I store extras in an inside pocket on my coat to keep them warm. Once they get cold and thaw out they're back to normal again so I just switch them out as they each get too cold.Nice pics man! Did you have any problems with your batteries freezing?

It was in the upper-10s up there most of the day yesterday so they really didn't appreciate the temps lol

Only took 45min to tack on another inch. 2.5 total but it has let up for now.
Big sigh of relief we have not repeated last winter. This beats the season total of '22-' 23.- 7

Under one of those streamers right now. Up to 1.5". Largest snow since the cold snap last Christmas.

Roads around Watauga are a mess. From FB posts pretty much every road into Boone has stuck cars and wrecked. Dumping here again. We may break last years season total tonight.

Just drove from Blowing Rock to the house and absolutely dumping. Roads going downhill fast and almost white out at times with the wind.

Nice steady light snow in Blowing Rock. Absolutely gorgeous.

Nice banding starting to work into the northern counties. Bring it on.

Nice flurry/flizzard action here in Blowing Rock this morning. Had to put some lead in my shoes or my skinny butt would have been in Charlotte via the surface jet stream this morning.

We managed 0.82" so far. Nowhere near the washout but still not terrible.

NAM has been trending towards the GFS and now Euro.
Well it was fun while it lasted. Here's hoping the higher elevations still do well and I can get into some fun stuff Tuesday morning. -
Even the HRRR has more than that. Actually the HRRR verbatim might have some thunder in convective bands late Monday. The 0z gfs continues to barely have any nwf at all...

I really wonder what it is (or isn't) seeing.- 2

Very dry layer at the surface. I've seen it sleet up around 51/52 degrees before, always weird.Reports of a few sleet pellets mixing in down in Columbus NC…. At 47*. Seemed strange but mom has a gas fireplace with a metal flue and said she could hear it quite clearly…. She could see a few pellets bouncing on the deck…

The 3km actually closes the trough off over the lakes. Impressive.

I thought NC did pretty well. They had to close some place on the Blue Ridge Parkway(?) to sledding or it could be SNP.
A little OT but they closed it to sledding because of some stuff that happened last year. People (read: idiots) parking in the road and what not.
We did OK in that event but definitely less than expected.- 1

Euro and GFS both still like that vort swinging around the backside hitting the border counties.
12km NAM does as well. Further east track seems to make that vort more likely than the earlier further west runs.- 2

This mornings dusting melted and has been replaced by another. So two traces makes a quarter inch, right? Lol
