  1. GFS and Euro both have an extended NWF event mid/late next week. Been fairly consistent on it as well.
  2. Yeah I always struggle when it's below freezing. I store extras in an inside pocket on my coat to keep them warm. Once they get cold and thaw out they're back to normal again so I just switch them out as they each get too cold. It was in the upper-10s up there most of the day yesterday so they really didn't appreciate the temps lol
  3. Here's some photos from Grayson Highlands today. Summiting Wilburn Ridge in the snow is definitely sketchy. Made it all the way to Mt Rogers for our first proper snow summit of it, cold but fun trip.
  4. Had a little wind/compaction overnight and measured 2" on the board this morning. Headed up to Grayson Highlands to see how it went up there.
  5. Only took 45min to tack on another inch. 2.5 total but it has let up for now. Big sigh of relief we have not repeated last winter. This beats the season total of '22-' 23.
  6. Under one of those streamers right now. Up to 1.5". Largest snow since the cold snap last Christmas.
  7. Roads around Watauga are a mess. From FB posts pretty much every road into Boone has stuck cars and wrecked. Dumping here again. We may break last years season total tonight.
  8. Just drove from Blowing Rock to the house and absolutely dumping. Roads going downhill fast and almost white out at times with the wind.
  9. Nice steady light snow in Blowing Rock. Absolutely gorgeous.
  10. Nice banding starting to work into the northern counties. Bring it on.
  11. Nice flurry/flizzard action here in Blowing Rock this morning. Had to put some lead in my shoes or my skinny butt would have been in Charlotte via the surface jet stream this morning.
  12. We managed 0.82" so far. Nowhere near the washout but still not terrible.
  13. NAM has been trending towards the GFS and now Euro. Well it was fun while it lasted. Here's hoping the higher elevations still do well and I can get into some fun stuff Tuesday morning.
  14. Even the HRRR has more than that. Actually the HRRR verbatim might have some thunder in convective bands late Monday. I really wonder what it is (or isn't) seeing.
  15. Very dry layer at the surface. I've seen it sleet up around 51/52 degrees before, always weird.
  16. The 3km actually closes the trough off over the lakes. Impressive.
  17. A little OT but they closed it to sledding because of some stuff that happened last year. People (read: idiots) parking in the road and what not. We did OK in that event but definitely less than expected.
  18. Euro and GFS both still like that vort swinging around the backside hitting the border counties. 12km NAM does as well. Further east track seems to make that vort more likely than the earlier further west runs.
  19. NAM has come back west a bit at 12z. I don't think the shifts are anywhere near done.
  20. I'm curious to see what this ULL/noreaster does to the pattern as a whole. Seen some wacky stuff out of the gfs in the long range. It could really shake things up.
  21. Made it to 17 with a very heavy frost. More accumulated frozen stuff than we had the other day lol
  22. Down to 23 already. High was 34 for about 45 minutes this afternoon.
  23. Not a thing stuck here in Foscoe. A mile up the hill is absolutely gorgeous, though. Ole "no snow" Foscoe living up to it's name.
  24. Steadiest snow of the event rigjt now but stuck at 33
