    I'm rooting for the gfs with this coastal system. It handled the dissipation of Francine much better than the Euro so here's hoping it keeps it's streak going.

    Finally getting a little rain. This might be the earliest I've seen the amount of color we have in the trees. Need some rain or this is going to be a quick, sad leaf season.

    Spent last week down in Myrtle. Nice to come back to a low of 45 this morning. Hard to beat those beach sunsets though.

    Yesterday and today were both 10/10 for mid-August. Today almost felt fall like, especially this morning. Absolutely fantastic. Next 7 days looks overall quite nice. High elevations could see upper-40s by middle of next week maybe.

    I was out there in March for a couple of days going from the Redwoods up to Portland. Really incredible. Definitely a "mountains meet the sea" deal. Keep an eye out for whales!

    Got blanked yesterday at the house but managed 2 tenths today. Big totals keep missing us. Blowing Rock has been racking up though with torrential downpours at the store the last couple of days.

    Models completely missing these storms coming across the border. Even the 0z HRRR doesn't have them which is impressively bad initialization. Looks loud for the next bit if they don't fall apart.

    Driving down 40 between Asheville and Old Fort this afternoon was not fun. Ran into quite a bit of pea to dime size hail and strong winds with zero visibility coming down the hill. Saw several cars that had hydroplaned coming through a downpour in Asheville too.
