3.3" already and it's absolutely pouring. Wind hasn't been terrible yet

Already 7/10" and the system isn't even out of Florida yet. Actually a bit concerned about flooding up here, we got 2" that last event and really saturated the ground pretty good.

If this upcoming pattern on the GFS repeats in January we'll be in good shape. Slider after slider into the extended.
It's had that Tuesday overrunning event on and off for the last 10 days. I'm hopeful it works out, would be a great birthday present.

I don't remember a tropical depression being forecast LOL
Had some solid wind at the house last night and this morning. Took down a bunch of tree limbs and heard a couple trees fall up the hill.

Got a grand 0.03" last night.
Better than nothing I suppose.

Ran into several good showers from Wytheville north today. Good dusting on the ground near Flat Top, WV. Been snowing on and off here around the gorge but no accumulation yet.
Truck temp never got above 40 today. Pretty good camping weather

28 here. Headed to the New River Gorge in a bit, hoping to see a little snow with the leaf color in that area tonight and tomorrow.

House shaking thunder and a quarter inch of much needed rain so far.
Gonna be a fun week.

I expect we'll see the first round of high elevation flurries this upcoming week. Tuesday morning looks like a good bet. I wouldn't even be surprised to see a few flakes make it down in elevation a good bit as the trough really digs in. Not much moisture to work with but it's sure gonna be cold enough.

Had planned to hit up West Virginia next week for whatever leaves are left, particularly around the NRG but the models are telling me I might be changing seasons entirely. Looks like a good amount of snow in the mountains up there.

Yeah they're pretty solid. They held up decent through the rain but we'll see what the wind does tonight.Thinking about heading to Boone Saturday for the day.. are the leaves peak in that area? Thanks for any info!
However just be aware traffic is going to be a nightmare moreso than usual. The Wooly Worm Festival and Valle Crucis Fair are this weekend and we're expecting the biggest single day traffic influx of the year. Our business in Blowing Rock that day is comparable to Black Friday.

Talk about a front that's mellowed out. Looking much less sharp than the past couple days had shown. Maybe some light showers and not much of a cold press. I'll take it, though, the longer fall photography season lasts the better.2nd straight day with a low of exactly 34.2°.
Looks like some big winds possible behind the front Friday that might put an end to high elevation leaf season.

What a nice stretch of weather. Absolutely perfect for leaf season. The colors have been excellent this year so far.
Also saw the 18z GFS with our first flurries by the 18th.

Saw video of snow down near Waynesville on the Parkway this morning. Posted by Lokel Yokel on FB.
Winter is definitely on the way.

Made it to 36 here at the house.
Camped up on Hawksbill in the Gorge last night and not sure what the temp was but it was breezy and cold this morning. Nice refreshing camping weather. I'm betting we see peak leaf color in 10 days on Grandfather at the current rate.
Here's sunset last night. Already quite a bit of color in the Gorge in the exposed areas. They always change early though.

18z GFS did it again. The 12z euro is basically half the rainfall of the gfs so we will see how this comes out.
The NAM is on a different planet with landfall in Myrtle Beach and barely any rain in WNC. Really strange look.

Here are the 0z Euro and ICON. I got my maps backwards it was the ICON with the more widespread high numbers. Euro still no slouch and you have to figure neither of these models are going to handle the upslope SE slow well at all.Can you post the euro rainfall map?

Really not liking the looks of Ian's inland track. 0z Euro dumped double digit rains for most of the board.

The Euro has been very consistent in taking the low of Ian right around us or right over us for several runs now but still tropical systems are a completely different beast to predict.
Yeah I'm concerned about the potential flood risk. We'll see how it evolves though.
Verbatim the Euro is a widespread 4-6" for most of the SW facing slopes (particularly bad for the SW mountains) and the GFS is widespread 2-4". Those are concerning totals from low-res globals at this range.

Absolutely loving today. Bottomed our at 41 with a high of 63. Great night for a fire out as well.
This will really get the leaves going. Hoping for a great leaf year, it's been a bit since we had a real killer one.
