  1. Holy shit this is nearly 80dbz to 25,000 feet...WTF is that? Doesn't look like any TDS so can't be debris. That's gotta be monstrous hail
  2. This is a monster supercell on the Florida Panhandle...wow
  3. Sick storms in Florida these last few days. Don't normally see setups like this there. But another sign we are racing into Nino territory.
  4. Typical spring thus far outside of the anomalous heat we had for a few days. Pattern though should flip probably by mid-May or maybe it gets delayed until later May. But once we flip...that switch is staying flipped.
  5. Well we are just under a week from May which means two things 1) Start of severe season 2) Consistently nicer weather with warmer temperatures Obviously given the hemispheric configuration, we're looking a bit unsettled and on the chilly side at times, especially overnight. However, there could be a pretty significant warmup perhaps moving through the second week of May towards mid-month as there are some signals for troughing to return to the west with ridging building east. May can be a fun month with drastic differences between the start of the month and end of the month. May can also surprise with some decent severe events and a few of our biggest have come in May
  6. Practice for us with severe season under a week away
  7. meh sun angle (whips stick back and forth)
  8. Heat turns on in the West second half of the week. They've been below-average temperatures it seems for 3 months straight California Mountain snow melt going to be wild this week.
  9. Pretty impressive for around here. Yes, there has been a definite drop in violent tornadoes over the past decade (though maybe up a bit this year?). What's really interesting too is aren't tornado related deaths up a bit?
  10. wow just saw there was an EF-2 tornado in New York (Sullivan County) Saturday. I think I saw something that we are off to a historic start in terms of confirmed tornadoes to start the year (even ahead of 2011, but remember it was pretty quiet that year until late April and May). Already an Ef3 in Delaware and an EF2 in New York and were not even into severe season yet.
  11. Great day to just watch the Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox.
  12. Drive back to Springfield going to suck
  13. At a wedding in Groton. Well at the reception. Lightning off the coast and not the Tampa bay lightning either. Might have to go outside and see if I can see the lightning soon
