  1. Looking at another foot of snow possibly. Maybe break the 100” mark...?
  2. Last pic. Heading out for a snowshoe... The sun is out, 11 degrees. It's gorgeous.
  3. Josh, If you've never been to the Keweenaw, I'd go there. A couple more pics since the sun has come out.
  4. 2.5" Thursday, and 8.6" here yesterday for a storm total of just over 11". Snow for the month of December 38" and for the season so far 84". Snow is deep in Superior land looking out front and back door
  5. NWL snow drought for sure, but never count a major snowbelt out of the game.
  6. Crazy heavy snow tonight with due north lake effect... been parked under one for over 3 hours. I love it. such a radar void here tho.
  7. I'm very disappointed. 2.5" of heavy wet snow, then off and on light freezing rain and drizzle since... temp didn't climb above 32. North winds and colder air later should favor here for some decent back end snow, but it's not an ideal situation. Probably will get an advisory issued with next package for Baraga and N Marquette County. How much up there? It will look beautiful tomorrow with the ice and fresh snow
  8. Probably not a whole lot better. The snow hasn't been deep enough UP wide to support riding, as you know, so businesses are down I'm sure. Locally for me, even with the 2 week stretch of boring, it has looked and felt like winter. Deepest snow has been 2', there's 16" on the ground now with snow falling. I would say I'm in a bit of a bubble and not the greatest to judge how good or bad things are, but I always want more.
  9. Despite over 70" of snow so far, there really hasn't been a serious lake event yet this winter... even more so down your way. Something to look forward to MQT: Mon/Tue, troffing will consolidate from Hudson Bay thru the central CONUS. Southern stream shortwave will lift up the front side of the trof toward the Lower Lakes while additional shortwave energy swings thru the Upper Lakes. Result will be broad low pres over the Great Lakes Mon with one center lifting ne to the Lower Lakes with second center moving across the Upper Lakes. Could be some -sn Mon, but the more important aspect will be the much colder air following passage of the latter low. Period of cyclonic low-level flow and sharp caa dropping 850mb temps to at least -20C in the wake of the low will likely spell a period of hvy LES off Lake Superior beginning New Year`s Eve evening or early New Year`s day. Will be quite cold on New Year`s day. High temps will either be in 5 to 10F range for much of the fcst area or will fall into that range during the day, depending on timing of the low pres passage. LES will shift/diminish on Wed as winds back. (APX mentions potential but not excited... they're numb I think )
  10. This map should encompass this entire messy storm... a plastering followed by some light rain/drizzle and then some fresh powder to end. Still thinking 10-12" imby with system and lake... wouldn't be surprised if the le fluffs up and over performs on the tail end, tho. Hopefully Will can stay all snow longer or completely.
  11. Yes. Only sand on the roads here too, with the exception of us 41 through negaunee and Marquette, I’ve noticed. The “main” road in the pic was gravel until September of this year, when it was paved. My road is dirt and will stay dirt for a long time I’m sure. This time of the year the dirt roads actually stay pretty smooth and white because they rarely get sand, just a plow. Ready for the storm. 1st call system and lake effect 10-12”... even a brief period of drizzle light rain.
  12. Merry Christmas everyone and here's to a New Year filled with snow for all! The extent of our subs white Christmas... snowbelts only pretty much.
  13. Awesome pics you guys! The snow has returned. Its beautiful out. Several inches the past couple days... enough to freshen things up. A couple pics from throughout the day. Went to Marquette and it was super busy. Got what I needed and split. Intersection of my road and the main road snowshoeing around my place Zoomed way in on this huge ass owl I saw in the distance.
  14. Same here this morning. Never been so excited for an inch of snow before Could be measuring snow in feet, however!
  15. Love this pic... yesterday morning on Superior, Thunder Bay. not mine
  16. After 13 days with no measurable snow, should see some wet 10:1'ish lake snow tonight along with strong northerly winds...not a complete return to winter for the UP but I am hopeful in the coming weeks with at least the chance to see some decent snow before the polar vortex attack. Still measuring 12 and 13" on my two snow sticks, but was down in Marquette yesterday and there was just a few inches otg and even a bare spot opening up here and there. While not an ideal December by any means, the snowbelts of the UP will still see a white Christmas.
  17. Worst December I could imagine so far. There's still plenty of snow but it's polluted with debris, animal tracks, and it's frozen and crusty. November was awesome and the start of December was, as well. Snow drought in the north. Pic of tonighttonight.
  18. I cannot agree to WV being considered south, so that kinda forces me to have an issue with Kentucky, as well. True south begins, imo, with the Tennesse/NC borders.
  19. What a beautiful young woman. Very sad to imagine her suffering so bad inside that that’s seen as the only solution.
  20. Freezing drizzle and fog overnight... temp hanging around the 30 degree mark. Forecasted high of 34 will mark the first time above freezing since the 24th of last month. Another week or so of ho-hum then a more wintry pattern, hopefully.
  21. It's been a decent start, but December looking like a dud. Season total around 70 inches here and a current snow depth of 16", down from 22-24" a week ago.
  22. I'll probably regret saying this but Id rather have rain than NO weather at all... and it's just getting started.
