  1. Yep the pattern has been the same all winter. I'm dreading the 2 to 4 inches of more rain next week(end). I'm already over 2 for the month and have 13 for the year.
  2. It's only 10 days away even 10 days from now
  3. Looks pretty nasty on radar now going through Haywood.
  4. Euro says not so fast about the 10th. Storm in the midwest.
  5. With that being said of course the models could trend to delaying again but today was a big step towards a big cold snap.
  6. It's only the first week of March so of course everything is going to get killed that came out 3 weeks early. Widespread 20s and teens are pretty likely. Some upslope areas might see their heaviest snowfall of the season if it sets up correctly. It can snow really heavy in March with the dynamics.
  7. Cold keeps getting delayed on the models... sound familiar? I doubt it will be more than a transient cool shot. Frost and freeze maybe but no real cold outbreak or snow
  8. Mid March could be a legit threat for wintry in NC. Especially I 40 north.
  9. Bugs are hatching like crazy in McDowell. Lots of trees are budding out and its almost time to cut the grass.
  10. I had a little hope a few days ago but this southeast ridge is just too strong. The upcoming blocking and -NAO will likely just prevent 70s and 80s and give us 40s and 50s and rain.
  11. Nasty day with the wind here in West Asheville. Some flurry/snizzle action at times. Looking long range, I'm not quite ready to throw in the towel for the mountains and adjacent foothills. Yes the next 10 days to 2 weeks are going to be warm but I think we switch to colder in March.
  12. I agree 100%. Another inch at least tonight and more next week seems a certainty. We are looking at yet another month of well above average rainfall.
  13. CAD now stands for cool(er) air damming. You know 50s and rain.
  14. I'm not a big global warming alarmist but something has changed. It was 62 this morning on Old Fort mountain at 8 a.m. on February 16... That's basically the equivalent of it being 10 below zero on the inverse but it's easier to remember the freak cold than warm.
  15. Can't beat the cool mountain breezes but I will say its getting more and more humid here. Looks like cold air will be hanging out in Canada and the Midwest towards the end of the month while we scorch under the death ridge. Maybe it will finally head this way in early March who knows. Winter could be over though (did it ever really arrive?)
  16. The pattern has been wash, rinse, repeat all winter. No reason to believe that's going to change now.
  17. Long range looks warm to me and I welcome it. I would say the odds of a snowless winter are above 75% for all piedmont areas
  18. The low ended up tracking too far north and west (shocking) amd almost every model was too cold Even last night's.
  19. This is a top 3 worst winter of all time for me here. It may surpass 2012 with more cold rain events.
