  1. We may not see 80 again until mid May in WNC
  2. Heaviest thunder we have had in a while last night. .57 to add to the April total. 45° already.
  3. Cold/frost/high elevation snow could all be in play next weekend. Much colder than average pattern coming up it looks like. Right on cue..
  4. Yeah this is one of the coldest places in the county on calm clear nights. I'm really close to the Catawba and in a valley. Of course it's also one of the last places to turn over to snow as well due to lower elevation than most of McDowell.
  5. 2.32 for the 3 day total. Much needed here
  6. I don't think April will be too much above average due to rain and clouds if the cutoff comes to fruition.
  7. Just had a few rounds of storms the past couple hours with over .50 already.
  8. Looks like we will finally see a good soaking rain. Right on the edge but a couple inches seem likely.
  9. Fishing just ain't what it used to be. Too many people, too few fish. There's so many houses and developments now it's no wonder streams like South Toe have trouble maintaining a good level.
  10. Lots of cool wedge drizzle-fests are on the way it seems. I expect many places in western nc won't get out of the 40s all weekend.
  11. It was pretty rough. Just a few small rainbows and one decent brown that was either native or been in there for a while. Went to South Toe. It rained harder than I expected and the water got dingy. I don't usually fish with live bait but I expect people who did had better luck. Caught the brown on a Rapala brown trout minnow. More exciting than worm fishing. The wind didn't get bad till around lunch
  12. Trout fishing this morning was quite the adventure
  13. If next year is warmer than this year we might as well call it extended spring. Trees will be budding in January.
  14. I'm becoming a little concerned about drought developing, especially in the Lee of the Apps and piedmont.
  15. A good downpour and high water levels are when the big native brown trout feed
  16. Strangely enough water levels are at or mainly below average for this time of year. We could use some soaking rain.
  17. Yep I see frosts and freezes into mid April.
