  1. Especially when, like Alex, you live there and have the season pass. I'm the same way with golf. I have a membership and and if I tee off and get rained out after 6 holes, it's not a big deal to me. If I paid $75 greens fees, it's much more of an annoyance and I probable just would have canceled my tee time if the weather looked iffy.
  2. Just think how much Dominos is saving. https://www.dominos.com/plowing-for-pizza/
  3. Thank god that’s not a picture of you naked in the hot tub with your friend’s father.
  4. I asked Ray if 79-80 showed up as an analog in his outlook. It was known as the a winter without snow up here. I seem to remember the first decent storm coming in February up here.
  5. It is but you climb pretty quickly to the west.
  6. Welcome to VT. Sorry to tell you though, most of us up here don't really consider what Brattleboro experiences as "true" winter. It's the banana belt of VT.
  7. It's not like you can even trailer to Quebec either.
  8. I was thinking about it today as I remember it being awful for snow up here. I think the first significant snow was in February.
  9. Apparently, old man winter is visiting Asia this year. Beijing shivers through coldest December on record https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-67818872
  10. It’s different with snowmobiling because the law requires a helmet but I always stress their importance when I’m teaching safety classes. One of my pet peeves are the reality shows set in Alaska or some other cold region that show people riding without a helmet. You could never do that for any length of time without getting frostbite or a branch in the eye. I imagine it’s similar with skiing. A full face helmet or helmet and goggles provide comfort and protection.
  11. It was a white Christmas at my brother in law’s house. His yard is protected from the sun in a narrow valley that there was full coverage with a depth of 4”-6”.
  12. TIL In the UK it’s considered a white Christmas if a single flake falls on Christmas. White Christmas 'likely' despite UK mild temperatures https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-67815533
  13. We’ve had some on and off light snow/sleet/sprinkles. Enough to whiten the ground a bit. It’s a Christmas miracle!
  14. I don't disagree but there is more evidence for the the coywolf. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/coywolves-are-taking-over-eastern-north-america-180957141/
  15. About 4,500 miles. There was some riding available opening day (December 16th) but that was washed away.
  16. There is evidence/speculation that coyotes have mated with wolves on their eastward migration. Like Will said, coywolf.
  17. It looked like Bolton Valley was open last night. You can see the night skiing lights heading south on I-89 in the Burlington/Williston area.
  18. We had a "decent" December going until Sunday night/Monday, at least northern VT did. There wasn't any real cold but the ski areas had good snow and all reports indicate that the skiing was pretty good. It wasn't quite as good for snowmobiling but there was some limited riding available on opening weekend. Like I said it was "decent" not great.
  19. How much do you think snowmelt added to the rain? There wasn’t a huge pack below 2000’ but there was a lot of water in what there was.
  20. Seriously? Wiz gets a chill when temps drop below 80. He should bring long johns wherever he goes.
  21. So, you're going to Nunavik?
  22. If the ground can freeze some. it might not be that bad. I'm always amazed at what a skilled excavator operator can do.
